## **What Is The Potato Lab About?**

Set in a mountain valley at a Potato Research Institute, Kim Mi-Gyeong, a potato researcher with 12 years at the institute, is working on a secret project to create a brand-new potato. However, her life and career are thrown a curveball when So Baek-ho is appointed as the institute’s new director. What starts as an office rivalry soon turns to romance.

Netflix describes it best: “A passionate researcher’s life takes a turn when a strict director arrives at her potato lab — proving that love can sprout in the most unlikely places.” [Parade](https://parade.com/news/what-happens-at-night-first-look-martin-scorsese-leonardo-dicaprio-jennifer-lawrence)

It’s the classic enemies-to-lovers trope executed in the most unexpectedly charming setting imaginable. Forget corporate boardrooms and glamorous cities — this romance blooms in mud, fields, and a quirky research facility tucked away in the countryside.

## **The Cast — Why Fans Are Obsessed**

Kang Tae-oh plays So Baek-ho. Fans of the extremely popular K-drama *Extraordinary Attorney Woo* will recognize the actor for his role as Lee Jun-ho. Importantly, this was his first acting project since being discharged from the South Korean military on March 19, 2024. That alone made this one of the most anticipated comebacks of the year.

Lee Sun-bin plays Kim Mi-Gyeong. The actress has starred in popular K-dramas such as *Work Later, Drink Now*, and *Team Bulldog: Off Duty Investigation*. The supporting cast includes Lee Hak-joo, Shin Hyun-seung, Kim Ga-eun, Yoo Seung-mok, and Kwak Ja-hyung.

The Potato Lab fits perfectly into South Korea’s long tradition of heartfelt workplace romantic comedies.
