Netflix’s next big international obsession has a premiere date — and it’s darker than anything Dutch TV has served up in a while.

**The Perfect Lie** (originally developed as *The Dinner Club*) is officially landing on Netflix worldwide on **September 10, 2026**. Based on [Saskia Noort](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saskia_Noort)‘s bestselling thriller novel *De Eetclub*, this glossy Dutch mystery drama is the kind of slow-burn watch that’ll keep you up past midnight.

## What’s the Story About?

Karen relocates her family to the wealthy town of Bergen, hoping for a fresh start. They’re quickly welcomed into the **Dinner Club** — an elite circle of friends with beautiful homes, successful careers, and picture-perfect lives.

But when one of their villas burns down and their friend **Evert dies in the fire**, the cracks in this polished façade begin to show. Karen starts pulling at threads, only to discover a web of secrets, resentments, and lies hiding in plain sight. The closer she gets to the truth, the more danger she finds herself in.

Think *Big Little Lies* energy — but Dutch, and arguably even more unsettling.

## Cast & Crew

The ensemble is stacked with familiar Dutch talent — **Loes Haverkort**, **Teun Luijkx**, **Rifka Lodeizen**, and **Charlie Chan Dagelet** (*Mocro Maffia*) lead the cast. The series is written by **Dorien Goertzen** and directed by **Dana Nechushtan** and **Margien Rogaar**, with production by Fiction Valley — the same studio behind *Mocro Maffia* and *The Golden Hour*.

#### Could This Become a Netflix Franchise?

Quite possibly. Noort’s *De Eetclub* is the first book in a **trilogy**, with sequels *Debet* (2013) and *De Nazaten* (2023) already published. If audiences bite — and they likely will — Netflix has plenty of source material to work with.
