Players will travel to the colony of Arcadia—the birthplace of skip drive tech—to find the answers. But as your investigation progresses, you learn that the stakes are galactic, and your choices may shape the future of the colony and beyond.
Arcadia is a world in chaos. The ruling Protectorate’s grip is faltering as a coup brews among a religious sect, and a voracious corporation moves in to seize control. Players will explore uniquely designed regions, learn rich lore, and shape the power balance with their decisions as they traverse through this risky landscape.
Unlike some other so-called role-playing games, The Outer Worlds 2 (and the first game) gives players full control to develop their characters, which leads to an almost infinite number of playstyles. Everything you do in the colony will matter, and your story will be shaped by your choices.
Players can recruit a diverse team of allies, each with their own backstories, skills, and motivations. You will get to choose whether to support their goals or to twist them to fit your own narrative. While Microsoft has confirmed a 2025 release for The Outer Worlds 2, a specific launch date has not yet been announced. With its branching narrative, vibrant world-building, and trademark Obsidian storytelling, The Outer Worlds 2 is shaping up to be a worthy successor to its cult-classic predecessor.
