Prime Video’s official synopsis says Olive’s desperate act of friendship turns into a fake relationship with “rules, boundaries, and a mutually beneficial agreement,” before the line between performance and reality starts to blur.

The footage positions the movie as a warm, slightly awkward academia-set rom-com, with Reinhart and Bateman carrying the central chemistry. ## Why the Release Is Getting Attention

The adaptation arrives with a built-in fan base thanks to the novel’s popularity, and Prime Video has clearly positioned it as one of its major romance releases for fall 2026. The teaser debut at Obsessed Fest gave the project a fan-focused rollout, while the official Prime Video announcement emphasized its global launch. That combination suggests the streamer sees *The Love Hypothesis* as more than a niche book adaptation.

For fans of romance films, the appeal is obvious: a fake-dating academic rom-com with two recognizable leads, a beloved source novel, and a release date already locked. With the teaser now out, the movie has officially moved from “anticipated adaptation” to one of Prime Video’s most visible romance premieres of the year.
