Despite being 35 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably Juventus’ most important player. He is the man that makes things happen and truly shows up when his team needs a leader.
There were rumours that Juventus were concerned regarding the player’s contract situation and wanted to sell him next summer than lose him for free when his contract expires in 2022.
Ronaldo is the highest-paid player at Turin and getting the Portuguese forward’s wages off the book could open up options for Juventus to invest elsewhere.
PSG has been rumoured as the next possible destination for Ronaldo. This is mainly because they are one of the few clubs in the continent who can afford Ronaldo’s astronomical wages, and it is unlikely that the player will be taking a pay cut.
The former Madrid superstar was brought in to help the Bianconeri win the Champions League. However, that has not happened in the two years that Ronaldo has already spent at the club.
When asked about the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo during an official Q and A session, here is what PSG Sporting Director Leonardo had to say:
“Cristiano Ronaldo? If he wakes up and says, ‘I’m going to another club’. How many clubs can he play in? There are 3, 4, 5, 6 clubs. It is a closed circle. PSG is in it.” (Transcribed by Foot365)
While it doesn’t mean anything in particular, Leonardo could be putting out the fact that the Parisians are well capable of having Ronaldo on their books.
He has been very instrumental in luring Kylian Mbappe and Neymar to Paris and could add Ronaldo to the list of big names to play for the club if Juventus decide to part ways with their star player.
However, nothing is set in stone yet and the player could end up staying in Italy, or renew his contract as well.
