Some family road trips involve snacks and playlists. This one involves a kidnapped murderer in the back seat — and four of Korea’s finest actresses driving the plan forward.

## What’s the film about?

The Journey to Gyeongju unveiled new character posters and a trailer, confirming its August 26 theatrical release in Korea. The story follows mother Ok Sil (Lee Jung Eun) and her three daughters as they set out on a long-awaited revenge mission, eight years after the youngest daughter, Gyeong Ju, never returned from a school field trip. The film’s premise is built around a chilling line: “I kidnapped the murderer who killed my daughter.” Its title nods to the historic city of [Gyeongju](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyeongju), the ancient capital that anchors the family’s emotional journey.

## The Journey to Gyeongju- Cast & Character Table

## Why this cast has fans buzzing

Each poster carries a signature line that captures the sisters’ dynamic — from Jang Ju’s unconditional loyalty to Young Ju’s cautious distance and Dong Ju’s wide-eyed shock at how far the plan has gone. The teaser leans into dark comedy as much as tension, following the family through a fog-covered road trip, a suspiciously staged photo, and a chase across a rice field in broad daylight. It’s less a straightforward thriller and more a blend of grief, dark humor, and sisterhood.
