Eduardo Camavinga moved from Rennes to Real Madrid this summer in a highly anticipated transfer that came as a surprise to many fans. Real Madrid acted quickly to secure the signature of the French midfielder, with the final fee rising close to €40 million.
The midfielder was born in a refugee camp, and made becoming a footballer his number one priority. The player joined the Rennes academy at the age of 11, and was awarded for his talent as well. He went on to become the youngest professional and the youngest player to start a game for the club. At the age of 16, he became the man of the match in a game against Paris Saint-Germain, and he was rated 8/10 by L’Equipe, which is a very difficult paper to please.
Camavinga always had strong feelings towards Rennes, and never tried to force a move from the French club. He was also leaning towards a new contract with Rennes so that they could sell him for £80-100 million in the future.
Manchester United and PSG were in the race for the midfielder this summer. But, PSG always had eyes on Paul Pogba as the top target since he is an established star. On the other hand, Manchester United never had concrete interest in Camavinga since they needed to sell players to fund a move after the signing of Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo.
Camavinga is currently with Real Madrid, the best club in the world, and has already started scoring for the club. The teenage sensation is bound to turn into one of the best midfielders in the world in the upcoming years.
