The International Dota Competition is one of the most anticipated Esports events globally. Its betting side operates much like the games on 918Kiss, and the latest prize pool reached a record-breaking $40 million after a forced break due to 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic.

The International is famous for its intense competition as well as its lucrative prizes. The new venue for the TI10 is in Bucharest, Romania, and this season’s prizes are just as exciting. Let’s look at the details for who gets what for the next highly anticipated Dota 2 clash.

The International Dota Prize Pool for Champions and Other Prizes

TI10 champions have the honour of claiming a huge US$18,208,300, a nice 45.5% chunk of the total US$40,018,195 prize pool. Winners also receive the prized Aegis of Champions to prove their worth as Dota 2 champions. The five participants that win the TI10 get US$3.6 million each for their efforts.

Even the team that comes in second will be laughing all the way to the bank, though. Runners-up in the TI10 will earn US$5.2 million, and a place in the Top 8 guarantees winnings of at least US$1 million.

Here’s a comprehensive listing of The 2021 International Dota prize pool:

  • Champions: US$18,208,300 (45.5%)
  • Runner-Up: US$5,202,400 (13%)
  • 3rd: US$3,601,600 (9%)
  • 4th: US$2,401,000 (6%)
  • 5th and 6th: US$1,400,600 (3.5%)
  • 7th and 8th: US$1,000,500 (2.5%)
  • 9th to 12th: US$800,400 (2%)
  • 13th to 16th: US$600,300 (1.5%)
  • 17th and 18th: US$100,000 (0.25%)

European masters OG won both TI8 and TI9. They were the first team to raise the Aegis of Champions back-to-back and unfortunately did not have the chance to carry this into 2020 with the cancellation of the event. However, there is no doubt that OG will be anxious to achieve a three-peat in TI10.

OG’s off-laner, Ceb, may not be missing the International Dota 2 event. On 1 October, the team announced that Ceb flew back to France for urgent eye surgery, electing Team Liquid’s Micke as a replacement. Ceb returned, but it is not clear whether he will remain with OG for the TI10.

Players actively playing Dota 2 will also have the opportunity to make predictions like who will make the highest number of kills through the Compendium before the event begins.

How They Fund The International’s Prize Pool

The second replay of TI in 2012 retained the same 2011 US$1.6 million prize pot. In 2013, this fund increased to US$2.8 million due to the interactive Compendium. Every purchase that fans made contributed 25% toward the tournament’s US$1.6 million prize fund, and this practice has steadily increased the prize pool over the years.

By 2021, the TI10 had 18 of the best Dota 2 teams globally competing for the Championship winnings of US$ 18 million.

TI10 Dates and Location

The 2021 group stage began on 5 August. However, the tournament will take place from 7 October to 17 October, with the main event occurring in the Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania.

The International’s organizers intended the main event to have a live audience. However, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Romania and globally forced an online event with the tournament rightly refunding all tickets. If you need a break from 918Kiss in October, try a couple of rounds on TI10’s wagering platforms instead.
