The Indian T20 team led by Rohit Sharma created a new World Record for most T20 victories in one calendar year. India defeated Australia in Hyderabad and won the series 2-1. The series win against the Aussies marked India’s 21st victory and created this spectacular record of highest wins. Previously, Pakistan had this record with 20 T20I victories in 2021.
India also maintained their amazing record in run chases in T20Is win their win against Australia in the final, decider game.
India was chasing 187 runs but had a huge blow initially since the team lost both skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul when the score was 30/2. From Australia, Tim David and Cameron Green surpassed half centuries. On the Indian side, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav scored half-centuries that revived the hope for India’s win.
India paralleled its record with Thailand’s women’s team which had 21 victories and four losses in 2019.
As the visitors appeared aggressive for a large score, Green gave Australia a strong start by achieving his half-century in just 19 balls, a record against India.
Earlier, Australia lost Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell quickly at 9 and 6 respectively. David’s hard-hitting helped the visitors pile up a score of 186/7.
India needed 11 runs to win in the last over from Danel Sams where he finished on 63 runs off 48 balls. He smashed a six in the first ball but got dismissed in the next one. Hardik Pandya came in and helped India win the match and the series.
