FIFA have finally announced the names of the 11 players from the 55 shortlisted names, who made up the World XI. But few of the names have created some surprise for the fans.
The players are chosen by votes from professionals all over the world. And they have chosen this XI.

- Alisson Becker (Liverpool)
Defenders
- Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
- Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus)
- Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
- Marcelo (Real Madrid)

- Luka Modric (Real Madrid)
- Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona)
- Eden Hazard (Real Madrid)
Forwards
- Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
- Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
- Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)
Messi and Ronaldo were voted in by their fellow professionals for a 13th straight year, maintaining their ever-present records since 2007. They are the best of this generation for a reason.
But the biggest surprise of this World XI is that Real Madrid have the most no of players in the XI. 4 players – Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard (Although Eden Hazard only moved to the Spanish capital in the summer transfer window from Chelsea after winning the Europa League in his final game for the English club.)
Real Madrid had the most disappointing year. They finished third in LaLiga and were knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax. Meanwhile, Manchester City dominated the whole of England with a domestic treble. But, much to everyone’s surprise no player from Manchester City were selected in the World XI.
