## The Drama: The Setup

At a pre-wedding dinner, Rachel proposes an exercise she and Mike took part in before their own wedding: sharing with each other the worst thing they ever did. Mike, Rachel, and Charlie go first — and then it’s Emma’s turn.

## The Twist — SPOILER

Emma admits she planned a school shooting when she was 15 but never followed through with it.

The reason Emma is deaf in one ear — a quirk that played an important role in her meet-cute with Charlie — is that she blew out her eardrum while practicing shooting her father’s rifle in preparation for the intended attack. [Time](https://time.com/article/2026/04/03/the-drama-ending-explained/) The revelation shocks everyone at the table and derails the entire wedding week.

## What Happens After?

Emma begins pointing to Charlie’s own imperfections — including not being fully honest about how they first met and his history of cyberbullying. As the wedding day approaches, both are in a state of profound paranoia and self-doubt.

By the time the reception goes completely off the rails, Charlie has made a panicked pass at a coworker, leading to a headbutt and Emma fleeing the scene. [Time](https://time.com/article/2026/04/03/the-drama-ending-explained/) Their final moment — meeting again at their favourite diner — hints at an emotionally messy but hopeful fresh start.

## What Critics Say
