The chemistry between Zendaya and Pattinson was one of the film’s most eagerly anticipated elements. This is also one of the most high-profile A24 productions in recent memory — produced by horror maestro Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen through their Square Peg banner. For context on A24’s reputation for bold, boundary-pushing cinema, the [A24 Wikipedia page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A24) is a great read.

## What Is *The Drama* About?

Days before their wedding, a couple’s relationship is shaken when one partner discovers unsettling truths about the other. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Drama_(film))

It sounds deceptively simple — but the film goes to some genuinely dark and unexpected places. During a pre-wedding party game of “What’s the Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done?”, Emma reveals a deeply disturbing secret from her past — setting off a chain of events that will test every foundation of their relationship. [Solzy at the Movies](https://solzyatthemovies.com/2026/03/31/the-drama-2026/) It’s the kind of premise that could only come from the director of *Dream Scenario* and *Sick of Myself* — Borgli has a gift for making audiences deeply uncomfortable while keeping them completely riveted.

## Critical Reception

Critics have praised the film strongly — ComingSoon gave it an 8/10, while The Guardian, The Independent, and Empire all awarded it four stars. The 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes confirms this is one of A24’s more acclaimed releases of the year.
