## What Is Season 5 About?

Homelander wants to get his hands on the original V-One formula from *Gen V* Season 2, which everyone believes will make him functionally immortal, while Butcher wants to use the Supe-killing virus from *Gen V* Season 1 to permanently end the Supe threat — even though it would also kill Butcher himself. Showrunner Eric Kripke has teased a finale that’s “gory, epic, and emotionally devastating.” [DIRECTV](https://www.directv.com/insider/the-boys-season-5/)

This is [superhero fiction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhero_fiction) at its most subversive and uncompromising — and Season 5 promises to blow the doors off the genre entirely.
