## What Is Liminal About?

The film is based on the [AWA graphic novel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWA_Studios) *Telepaths*, created by Eisner Award winner **J. Michael Straczynski** — the legendary mind behind *Babylon 5* and Netflix’s *Sense8* — alongside artists Steve Epting and Brian Reber.

The source material imagines a world where an **electromagnetic disturbance** suddenly grants telepathic powers to one in ten people on Earth. In the chaos that follows, newly telepathic Boston police are deployed against a wrongly convicted prisoner who has become a hero and leader of fellow telepaths — people desperately trying to survive in a world that will make them targets the moment their abilities are discovered. It’s part rebellion story, part police thriller, and entirely gripping.

While the exact plot details of the film adaptation are being kept tightly under wraps, if it captures even half the premise’s potential, Apple has an absolute blockbuster on its hands.
