The completion in the sub-4-meter SUV segment has become stronger with the launch of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. So how does it compare to the segment leader, Tata Nexon?
Tata Nexon vs Mahindra XUV 3XO
Safety Features
When it comes to their main focus, safety both the XUV 3XO and Nexon give you 6 airbags, ESP, TCS, and more on all variants. Also, both of them have cleared the 5-star crash test but the XUV 3XO gets Level-2 ADAS, which is missing on the Nexon.
Exterior Features
When we check out the exterior features, we get Bi-LED headlights, LED DRLs, and front and rear parking sensors on both these SUVs but the Nexon gets cornering lights and sequential turn indicators. The XUV 3XO has rear disc brakes, larger alloy wheels
Interior Features
Both SUVs have 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, but the former has more real estate. However, unlike Nexon’s, this screen has wired CarPlay and no wireless Android Auto. The XUV 3XO also offers a panoramic sunroof and a dual-zone climate control system, while the Nexon has ventilated front seats.
Feel-good Features
Nexon feels on-par here but the XUV 3XO offers soft-touch plastics, LED cabin lights, and an electric sunroof blind. It’s pretty much the same as the Nexon, which offers auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a telematics suite.
Powertrain and Performance
Both the XUV 3XO and Tata Nexon vehicles are fueled by 1.2L 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol and 1.5L 4-cylinder Turbo Diesel engines. The XUV promises a new torque-convertor automatic, while the Nexon promises a fast-shifting 7-speed DCA. While all performance metrics are in favor of XUV 3XO, Nexon provides better handling.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Tata Nexon provides enough to compete with the impressive features of the XUV 3XO. Since Tata has a history of adding features like ADAS and panoramic sunroofs to new cars, we recommend purchasing Nexon and waiting for a better version in the future.
