Tata Motors extends its commitment to Indian tennis as title sponsor of Tata Open Maharashtra for 5th year in a row

South Asia’s only ATP 250 event will be played from Dec 31 to Jan 7

Tata Motors, a leading global automobile manufacturer, has bolstered its long-standing commitment to tennis in India by extending its landmark association with Tata Open Maharashtra as the title sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. South Asia’s only ATP 250 is set to kick off on December 31 in Pune. The Company today announced that its iconic flagship SUV, the all-new Tata Safari will be the Official Partner for Tata Open Maharashtra.

The tournament has brought some of the world’s biggest stars such as Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, and Carlos Moya to India in the past and this year 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic will headline the highly competitive field, featuring 17 top-100 players.

Driven by the core principles of “Sportification of India”, Tata Motors’ association with one of India’s oldest sporting events will continue to play a crucial role in promoting the sport.

We are thrilled to extend our partnership with one of India’s most trusted brands, Tata Motors for the fifth year in a row now. This adds to the credibility, trust and partnership that we share with them as we celebrate the milestone fifth year of the tournament in Pune. We are grateful for their continued belief in us and support in the journey of this tournament which is set to witness some of the big stars in action from across the world, once again,” said Mr. Sanjay Khandare, Treasurer of Tata Open Maharashtra, who is also an IAS officer.

Tata Motors has a rich history of association with various sports events in India. It has been at the forefront of India’s mobility revolution for more than 75 years and continues to offer an extensive range of smart, sustainable and integrated mobility solutions, a diverse portfolio that includes cars, sports utility vehicles, trucks, buses and defence vehicles.

Commenting on this association, Mr. Rajan Amba, VP, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service,  Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said, “We are delighted to announce our continued association with the Tata Open Maharashtra. For this event, we have chosen to showcase our premium flagship SUV, Safari. The Safari brand has always expoused its “Reclaim Your Life” philosophy and what better a way to do so, than Sports. The power and performance of the Safari is synonymous with that of a highly trained tennis player and it lends itself aptly to this wonderful long serving association.

In its new avatar, the Safari takes forward the brand’s rich legacy by combining Impact 2.0 design language with the proven capability of OMEGARC, an architecture derived from the renowned D8 platform from Land Rover. It has evolved to cater to the new age SUV customers, who demand arresting design, unparalleled versatility, plush and comfortable interiors, and outstanding performance for a modern, multifaceted lifestyle.

Tata Open Maharashtra, owned by IMG and managed by RISE Worldwide, will be conducted at the Balewadi Stadium by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) in association with the Government of Maharashtra.

The partnership, which began after the prestigious tournament shifted to Pune from Chennai in 2018, has grown immensely ever since.

Tata Open Maharashtra has returned to the opening week of the calendar as the qualifiers will begin on December 31 while the main draw will take place from January 2-7.
