TATA, one of India’s largest and most trusted company, has offered their help to BCCI to create the bio-secure bubble in the UAE. TATA groups’ medical arm, TATA Medical and Diagnostics has come up with this offer. They gave a presentation on “a holistic, state-of-the-art integrated Bridgital technology-based, end-to-end, COVID safety services solution and enable the league to set the gold standard”, according to a report by TOI.

IPL GC Chairman Brijesh Patel said after the meeting on Sunday: “Yes, we were given a presentation by Tata group. IPL GC members are extremely impressed with the pitch. Final calls will be taken before the end of this week.”

TATA group’s automobile arm, TATA Motors are one of the sponsors of IPL. If BCCI accepts this offer, TATA Medical and Diagnostics will also become a part of IPL.

TATA plans to work with BCCI, IPL Management team, IPL franchises and the UAE government to provide end-to-end support for Coronavirus safety management. They will also implement AI-driven technology to monitor the movement of all the participants.

According to the TOI report, TATA says the solution levers and their intensity will be based on an understanding of the inherent criticality and risk levels and the usage of various zones at the venues that can be categorized into various criticality groups:

  • Platinum: Players and coaches
  • Gold: TV broadcast crew
  • Silver: Matchday entertainers

Further, stakeholder groups can also be categorized based on the risk of:

  • Catching COVID (Exposure risk): High for TV Crews
  • Transmitting COVID (Spreading risk): High for support staffs

Areas marked into Access Zones at the stadium can also be categorized as follows:

  • Sanctum: Playing field and dressing room
  • Exclusive: Media and TV broadcast areas
  • Controlled: Stadium concourse

BCCI will now discuss among themselves about this offer from TATA Medical and Diagnostics, which seems to be too good to be declined. They will announce their decision within this week.

Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of BCCI told: ” The Governing Council also discussed the comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which will be finalised and published in due course, including the agencies to execute and deliver a bio-secure environment for safe and successful conduct of IPL 2020 Season.”

So if TATA’s proposal is accepted their guidelines will be included in the SOP and distributed among all the members of IPL.
