Tanguy Ndombele is set to leave Tottenham for Napoli in the coming days. The midfielder will join the Serie A club on a loan deal with the option to buy. There were several other clubs interested in signing the player, including Villarreal, but the Azzurri have won the race to recruit the player and end his spell at London.

In 2019, Ndombele became the most expensive signing in the history of the Lilywhites. He was signed for £65 million from Lyon, but has been unable to live up to expectations during his time at the club.

The Frenchman spent the latter half of last season on loan at his former club, Lyon. But, he is now set to take on a new challenge in Italy once he completes the switch. The two clubs are prepared to finalise the deal in the coming days, with the official announcement expected to follow once the formalities have been completed.

Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo were willing to include the player in their line-up. However, Antonio Conte has simply frozen him out altogether. He was booed off the pitch by the fans during Tottenham’s game against Morecambe in the FA Cup last season. And he hasn’t been called upon since then.

Alongside Tanguy Ndombele, Giovanni Lo Celso is also on his way out of Spurs. The Argentine will be returning to Villarreal on loan. Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilón are also expected to exit the club before the end of the transfer window.
