Disney’s Live-Action Tangled Just Got[Diego Luna](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Luna). From the galaxy far, far away to the kingdom of Corona, **Andor** star Diego Luna has officially joined Disney’s most anticipated live-action remake. Cameras roll in Spain this June.

Rapunzel had a magical tower, 70 feet of golden hair, and a dream bigger than her captivity. Now Disney is giving her a live-action world to escape into — and one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actors has just joined her adventure.

**Diego Luna** — Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated star of Andor and Rogue One — has been cast in Disney’s live-action **Tangled** remake, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on May 1, 2026. In a bold, creative choice, Luna will play a brand-new role created specifically for this film, expanding the story beyond the original animated classic’s beloved characters.

## A cast worth letting your hair down for

**Teagan****Croft **as Rapunzel

**Milo Manheim** as Flynn Rider

**Kathryn****Hahn** as Mother Gothel

**Diego Luna ★**New role (TBA)

Australian actress **Teagan Croft**, best known as Raven in DC’s Titans, was cast as Rapunzel after a search spanning both sides of the Atlantic. **Milo Manheim** of Zombies steps into Flynn Rider’s smouldering boots. And **Kathryn Hahn** — who proved her villainous credentials in Agatha All Along — brings Mother Gothel to live-action life.

Luna’s character remains completely under wraps. Whether he’ll be required to sing — and he certainly can, having showcased his vocals in The Book of Life — is also a deliberate mystery. What isn’t mysterious is the calibre his casting adds to an already impressive ensemble.

> “There’s a decent chance his character will appreciate an impressive coiffure.”— The Hollywood Reporter, May 1, 2026

## Why this Tangled feels different from Disney’s recent remakes

Disney’s live-action pipeline has had its share of turbulence. Snow White bombed in 2025, making only $205.7 million worldwide on a rumoured $270 million budget — while Lilo & Stitch quietly crossed $1 billion the same year. **Tangled** sits firmly in the beloved-original camp: the 2010 film grossed over $590 million worldwide, earned an Oscar nomination for “I See the Light,” and was among the films revitalising Disney’s princess genre for a new generation.

Michael Gracey — who turned The Greatest Showman into a cultural phenomenon and directed the sensitive Robbie Williams biopic Better Man — is precisely the right filmmaker for a story built on spectacle and emotional sincerity. And with Luna joining in an all-new role created specifically for the feature, this Tangled isn’t just a retelling. It’s an expansion.

The lanterns over Corona are being lit once more. With **Tangled** filming beginning in Spain this June 2026, the story of Rapunzel — now reimagined by one of cinema’s most exciting ensembles — is about to find its next chapter.
