Monaco manager Philippe Clement has seemingly confirmed Takumi Minamino’s arrival at the Ligue 1 club. The player is expected to make the move to France after leaving Liverpool. And now, the manager has confirmed that his side have signed the Japanese forward.

The deal is expected to be worth around £12 million with £2.5 million in add-ons. The player has already agreed personal terms for the transfer and will be officially presented in the coming days.

“I’m very happy, I’ve known him for a long time,” Clement said of Minamino, as quoted by RMC Sport.

“He was very high on our list. Everyone here is convinced that he has the qualities to bring something to the team.

“He already has experience and has done a lot of good things at Salzburg, in a style close to ours, just like at Liverpool where there is a lot of competition. That’s why this is an opportunity.”

Takumi Minamino struggled for game time at Liverpool, despite playing a very important part in their domestic success this past season. He didn’t play the finals of neither the FA Cup nor the Carabao Cup, and as a result, he felt underappreciated. He spent the latter half of the 20/21 season on loan at Southampton, and will now move on from the club permanently to a new challenge.
