Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr shirt number update: Real Madrid’s new number 7 and 11 revealed

Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr shirt number update: Real Madrid have a new number 7 and number 11, with their two Brazilian wingers getting an upgrade on their jersey numbers. Vinicius Jr is Real Madrid’s new number 7, while Rodrygo has taken up the number 11.

Vinicius previously wore the number 20, the same which he had back in Brazil. For him, it seemed to be a good luck charm. On the other hand, Rodrygo has worn the number 21 jersey for the past few seasons, and has now upgraded to the number 11 jersey.

The number 7 shirt was most recently worn by Eden Hazard, who has now left the club following the mutual termination of his contract. Although it is popular throughout football, nobody has embodied the number 7 quite like Cristiano Ronaldo. The iconic Real Madrid winger inherited the number 7 from an equally legendary attacker – Raul. And both of their legacies will now be carried forward by Vinicius Jr, who is growing into a Real Madrid talisman himself.

The number 11, on the other hand, most recently belonged to Marco Asensio who has decided to move on as a free agent. The player will be joining PSG as a free agent soon. Before him, Gareth Bale had the jersey and the Welshman formed an incredible partnership with 11 on his back alongside Ronaldo, and Real’s former number 9, Karim Benzema.

Los Angeles will be looking for a new number 9 this summer, following the departure of their club captain. And it remains to be seen as to who is recruited to replace Benzema, with a gaping hole left in the team’s attack for the time being.

Karim Benzema Saudi Arabia move: Ballon d’Or winner to leave Real Madrid after 14 years

The Karim Benzema Saudi Arabia rumours are true.

Al Ittihad have officially announced the arrival of the French striker, who has signed a three-year contract until 2026. Benzema will earn a salary of €200 million per season, and follows his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia following the Portuguese’s move to Al-Nassr during the January transfer window.

The Frenchman made his final appearance for Real Madrid in a press conference on 6 June, and received a send-off in the final La Liga match of the season.

He had an agreement with Real Madrid over a new contract until 2024, but it was only verbal one with nothing signed. And having informed president Florentino Perez about the crazy financial offer from Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, he could end his stay at the club this summer.

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Benzema’s departure came out of nowhere. The striker informed the club the morning of the announcement. He will further clarify his stance in the press conference on June 6.

The reigning Ballon d’Or winner has not been able to build on the consistency he showed last season. And the main reason behind that has been his struggle with injuries this time around. However, whenever he has been fit to play, he has delivered, scoring 18 goals in 23 La Liga appearances.

The offer from Al Ittihad will see Karim Benzema earn €100 million without taxes per season, which is far more than he could earn with Real Madrid. Although he has maintained that he wants to retire at the Santiago Bernabeu, this offer has emerged to simply be too good to turn down.

Spending 14 years at the club, Benzema has established himself as an icon. He is among the top scorers in the history of Los Blancos, and has been the star forward since Cristiano Ronaldo left in 2018. His overperformance last season was perhaps the biggest reason why Madrid ended up winning their 14th Champions League title last season, defying all odds.

It now seems likely that Real will have to dive into the transfer market to sign a replacement for their outgoing number 9. Here are the likely options to replace him.

Official: Karim Benzema leaves Real Madrid at the end of 22/23

Real Madrid have officially announced that Karim Benzema will be leaving the club after their final game of the season against Athletic Club. The striker will say goodbye to the fans of the club, and will then move on.

The likely destination for him is Saudi Arabia, with a €100 million per season offer recently tabled for the reigning Ballon d’Or winner. And now, it seems he has decided to leave Spain after spending 14 years with them and becoming their second top scorer of all-time, behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

In spite of the Frenchman recently saying that his future lies in Real Madrid, the opposite has now come to be true. And he will be leaving as a legend of the club, truly marking the end of an era for the Spanish giants.

Benzema joins Eden Hazard, Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio as the players to leave at the end of the season. His next club should be announced in the next few days once the formal agreement is completed and finalised.

    Matches: 647
    Goals: 353
    Assists: 165
    Trophies: 25

“Real Madrid C.F. and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable stage as a player for our club.

Real Madrid wants to show its gratitude “and all its affection for who is already one of our greatest legends.

“Madridistas and all the fans around the world have enjoyed his magical and unique football, which has made him one of the great myths of our club and one of the great legends of world football,” the official statement posted on the club’s website read.

“Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and he wishes him and all his family the best in this new phase of his life.”

The number 9 really stepped up to the task after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018. And since then, he has been their number one attacker, finally lifting the Ballon d’Or trophy this past year. Since the 2018/19 season, he has provided 213 goals and assists in 226 starts, which is simply incredible. And not to forget, it was his hat-tricks in the Champions League that helped them win the title for the 14th time last year.

Will Real Madrid replace Karim Benzema?

The likelihood of Los Blancos signing someone like Harry Kane, Kai Havertz or Roberto Firmino looks much more real now that their star striker will be leaving. The profile of Kane is similar to that of Benzema in that both of them have a key part to play in build up and they are both very clinical finishers.

However, Spurs are tough negotiators and it could be some time before the transfer negotiations progress. Firmino is available on a free transfer, and also has the Brazilian link with the likes of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.

Chelsea’s Kai Havertz has also been rumoured as a possible option, but the Premier League club want to sell him for a sizable fee. And it remains to be seen whether Madrid will go for him at this stage.

Eden Hazard to leave Real Madrid at the end of 2022/23 with contract terminated

Real Madrid have confirmed that Eden Hazard will be leaving the club at the end of the ongoing season. The winger’s contract will be terminated, and he will be free to find a new club. However, it is yet uncertain whether he will continue to play professional football after leaving Madrid or whether he will retire.

The former Chelsea player has already called it quits for the Belgian national team, after the 2022 World Cup. And now, we might have seen the end of his playing career now that Madrid have no plans of continuing with him anymore.

“Real Madrid Football Club and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will leave the club as of 30 June 2023.

“Real Madrid would like to express our affection to Eden Hazard and we wish him and his family the best of luck for the next stage of his career,” the official statement released by the club read.

The 32-year-old will be joining the likes of Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz and potentially Dani Ceballos and Karim Benzema on the way out of the club. While Asensio and Diaz have been confirmed, the futures of Ceballos and Benzema remain uncertain for the time being.

Hazard has spent four years at the Spanish capital, and has won the La Liga title twice, the 2022 Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the Copa del Rey during his time with Los Blancos.

How has Eden Hazard’s time at Real Madrid been?

    Matches 76
    Goals 7
    Assists 12
    Injuries 18

When the forward made the move from Chelsea in 2019, on the back of their Europa League title win, this was not the dream that he was seeing. For arguably the best player in the Premier League at the time, Real Madrid was supposed to be a step up. But, his time in white has been nothing short of a nightmare.

Injuries have taken their toll on his body, leaving him incapable of reproducing the brilliance he once showed with Chelsea. And now, having been frozen out of Real Madrid, he is leaving as a mere shadow of his former self.

hazard Eden Hazard to leave Real Madrid at the end of 2022/23 with contract terminated

As one of Real Madrid’s record transfers, he arrived overweight in his very first summer at the club. And things took a turn for worse in pre pre-season itself as injury after injury hampered his progress. Since then, he has been sidelined 18 times, almost the same number of goal contributions he has provided in the last four years.

Hazard has been restricted to making only 76 appearances for the club of his dreams, and it is heartbreaking to see a player of his quality not being able to perform at his best, at a stage that he wanted for himself.

    What next for Eden Hazard?

A potential move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey could be on the cards for the veteran winger now. Although Chelsea have been linked with a fairytale return, such transfers rarely happen. And more importantly, the club has moved on quite far in their sporting project to have to sign Eden Hazard anymore.

As a result, a move to a less competitive league or retirement seem to be the only realistic options available right now.

Summer transfer window: Carlo Ancelotti confirms Fran Gracia as the first signing for Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed the first signing for Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. That’s none but Rayo Vallecano full-back Fran Gracia.

Fran Gracia to sign for Real Madrid; Ancelotti confirms

Following the 2-1 victory against Los Blancos against Rayo at the Santiago Bernabeu, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the press about Fran Gracia joining Madrid.

    He said,

“He is a very good profile for Real Madrid, and next year he will be with us.”

Besides Gracia, Madrid is working hard to finalize a contract with Jude Bellingham this summer.

Reports in May earlier stated that the magnificent midfielder had agreed with the club on personal terms before making the sensational move.

Gracia had helped Rayo Vallecano to get to their 11th La Liga this season.

Los Blancos didn’t have the best of seasons after losing the title to Barcelona and derailing from the Champions League semi-finals against Manchester City. They’ll be willing to conclude their season on a high note as they’re up against Sevilla away on May 27.

Real Madrid is interested in signing Andrew Robertson this summer

Reports suggest that Real Madrid is always planning a move to sign Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson in this summer transfer window.

For the last five seasons, Robertson has been one of the most fantastic left-backs in European football. He’s exceptionally capable of attacking and defending at the topmost level.

Out of his 267 appearances for the Red, the Scotland captain has hammered 63 assists and has helped them bag the Champions League and Premier League titles.

After having a struggling season with the left-back, Los Blancos are very much willing to sign him which would cost them in excess of €40 million.

Aston Villa make opening bid for Marco Asensio free transfer

Marco Asensio will be leaving Real Madrid as a free agent at the end of his contract next month. The forward tried negotiating a new contract with the board, who were prepared to offer a better salary to him and also let him choose the length of the contract.

However, the main difference was over his importance in the first team, and that was the main reason behind the breakdown in negotiations. As a result, he is looking for a new challenge where he will get regular playing time and be able to have an important role in the squad.

Following their qualification for the Europa Conference League, Aston Villa will be reinforcing their squad to build on their success this past season. And Asensio could be a very shrewd signing, especially given that he will be available for free.

Although Villa have the likes of Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey in their squad, Marco Asensio is a versatile forward and will be able to play a variety of roles under Unai Emery. As a result, he could contribute significantly should he make the move.

The Premier League club have made their opening bid and want an answer from the player soon. They also face competition from PSG, who are in the market for a right-winger after the impending departure of Lionel Messi.

  • Karim Benzema to decide between Saudi Arabia and Real Madrid in the next 24 hours

Karim Benzema to decide between Saudi Arabia and Real Madrid in the next 24 hours

Karim Benzema is expected to decide his future very soon, with the bid from Al Ittihad on the table for the Real Madrid forward. He has informed Real president Florentino Perez about the bid, and it will be a very important 24 hours ahead for the striker.

The reigning Ballon d’Or winner had agreed a contract extension with Los Blancos until 2024. But, nothing has been signed yet and he can still choose to leave the club if he desires so.

Karim Benzema to decide his future imminently

The bid from Saudi Arabia is a very tempting one, with a financial offer worth €100 million per season put forth by the club. Moreover, it will also allow him to keep 100% of his image rights, and he will be able to choose his residence.

The 35-year-old was in the form of his life last year, but hasn’t been able to be as consistent this time around. He has had to deal with several injuries this season, which have limited his contributions. But, he has still delivered when counted upon, scoring 18 times in 23 La Liga games.

The Frenchman has broken multiple records during his time at Real Madrid, and is one of the top scorers in the club’s history. If this truly is the end, then Karim Benzema will go down as one of the top strikers the club has seen, in spite of not being able to get as much recognition until 2018.

Karim Benzema has received an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad to sign for them this summer. The Real Madrid captain has verbally agreed to a renewal with the Spanish side, but received a very lucrative financial offer from the Gulf State prior to their game against Sevilla.

The renewal until 2024 hasn’t been signed yet and isn’t valid. Which means that the Frenchman could end up leaving Madrid at the end of the season, when his current deal runs out.

The 35-year-old has received an offer worth €100 million per season, with the ability to keep 100% of his image rights. He will also receive the luxury of having to pay no taxes, and the choice of his private residence based on where he wants to stay in the state. In addition, he is also expected to be an ambassador for the 2030 World Cup.

This season has been riddled with injuries for the reigning Ballon d’Or winner. However, he has scored 18 goals in La Liga and four goals in the Champions League, establishing himself as one of the top goalscorers from Spain.

A decision is expected very soon from Karim Benzema, after consultation with his agents and family. He will formally communicate his final call soon, with little ambiguity expected.

Benzema has maintained in the past that he wants to retire at Real Madrid, but such a tempting offer from Saudi Arabia could lure him away for a two-year spell.

  • Roberto Firmino could join Real Madrid for free in summer 2023

Roberto Firmino could join Real Madrid for free in summer 2023

Real Madrid are considering Roberto Firmino as one of the options to bolster their forward line this summer. The Brazilian is leaving Liverpool as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of next month.

He hasn’t committed to any project as of yet, and is considering all options before making a final decision. And the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world will no doubt be appealing to the veteran forward.

Playing time has been limited for the forward this summer, due to his injuries and especially after the arrival of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. As a result, he has decided to move on and take up a new challenge.

Los Blancos have been without Karim Benzema for significant parts of the season due to injuries. The 35-year-old has scored 18 goals in 23 La Liga games this season, and his absence has been noticeable.

When he hasn’t been on the pitch, Madrid look like a completely different side and struggle to perform offensively. Given that Roberto Firmino has made a name for himself with his unique link-up play, he could play a similar role to Benzema. This would allow the Frenchman to be rested, and rotated given his age.

As a result, it remains to be seen whether Madrid go all-in for Firmino, given that he will be available for no transfer fee at all.

  • Marco Asensio to leave Real Madrid after 7 years at the end of 22/23

Marco Asensio to leave Real Madrid after 7 years at the end of 22/23

Marco Asensio is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, when his contract expires. The attacker has been in talks with the board over a new deal since the start of the new year, but negotiations have broken down and he is now set to leave as a free agent.

The 27-year-old has found it hard to make the starting line-up consistently, but has made a significant impact from the bench whenever called upon. This season, he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

Although the board was willing to offer him a greater salary, and the freedom to choose the length of the contract, the main point of dispute was his importance in the squad. With Rodrygo the preferred option on the right wing, Marco Asensio’s playing time is unlikely to be very high.

And in spite of his versatility, he will not be a regular starter for Los Blancos. As a result, he has decided to look for a new challenge where he will be an important member of the project.

Several clubs from the Premier League are trying to sign the player, alongside clubs like Milan from Italy. However, he hasn’t made a final decision regarding his future yet and is yet to commit to a new club.
