PSG: Neymar and Gianluigi Donnarumma deny fight rumours after Champions League exit

A lot has been said following PSG’s dramatic exit from the Champions League against Real Madrid. Reports that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Neymar got into a locker room fight after the game were among the ones doing the rounds.

However, the two players have denied the rumours themselves, after Neymar shared his personal WhatsApp chat with Donnarumma. The goalkeeper sent his teammate the article, apologised for his error and called the report unacceptable. Neymar took the youngster’s side, and reassured him that they were on the same page.

Neymar and Gianluigi Donnarumma deny rumours of locker room fight

Donnarumma was at fault for conceding the first goal, after being tackled by Karim Benzema with the ball at his feet. On another day, the tackle could have been ruled as a foul. But, both the on-pitch referee and VAR deemed the challenge to be a clean one.

Neymar himself made a mistake which led to a goal, and helped Benzema complete his hat-trick in the second half. The team ended up collapsing in the second half after Benzema opened the scoring for PSG, and crashed out in the Round of 16.

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of the team in the aftermath of the big defeat. Mauricio Pochettino is safe on the bench for the time being, as he still has the club at the top of the Ligue 1 table. But, his future beyond the summer is still up in the air.

5 failed transfers you need to know about

A lot goes on behind the scenes to complete transfers in football. And while some deals are easily executed, others can fail at the final moment. In this article, we’re taking a look at three big failed transfers in world football.

5 big failed transfers in world football

    5. Carlos Tevez to AC Milan

Before making a €9 million move to join Juventus from Manchester City, Tevez was in talks to join AC Milan. And while the deal with the Rossoneri collapsed, he still ended up in Italy, with arguably the biggest club in the country.

    4. Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid

While Mbappe might end up at Real Madrid this summer, Madrid’s 3 bids, worth up to €200 million were all rejected this past summer. As a result, their advances to sign the Frenchman one year earlier failed, and they are now hoping to sign him for free in June.

    3. Harry Kane to Manchester City

The England captain had a €150 million plus add-ons bid for his services from the Sky Blues. The reason behind the failed transfer was Daniel Levy pushing to keep the striker, and he ultimately succeeded in his efforts.

    2. Kaka to Manchester City

Kaka’s failed transfer to Manchester City in 2009 could have been worth €130 million. Instead, he went on to join Real Madrid as one of their most prized signings. The Brazilian would eventually return to AC Milan after joining Los Blancos.

    1. Neymar to Barcelona

The Brazilian was pushing to return to Barcelona in 2018, but was unable to make the move happen. He now has a long-term contract with PSG and is still the most expensive signing in history of world football.

Neymar wishes to play in the MLS in the late stage of his career

With Neymar now in his 30s, he will be more aware of the demands on the game as he ages, and the prospect of hanging up his boots looms large on the horizon as he plans the next stages of his separate careers. James Rodriguez has also been confirmed.

Both players utilized the Twitch site over the weekend to express significant interest in playing in Major League Soccer at some point in the future, even though both are presently playing for PSG in France and Al-Rayyan in Qatar.

    Neymar’s Motivations for MLS

Neymar was a guest on the ‘Fenomenos’ podcast (broadcast on Twitch) and when asked about his reasons for wanting to play in Major League Soccer at some point, he told Ronaldo Nazario, “first of all, their season is shorter, so I would have three months off (laughs). I would get to play for many more years”.

Following his spell in Spain’s LaLiga and a subsequent move to PSG, where he is under contract until mid-2025, the Brazilian striker is currently in his ninth season in Europe. A move to the United States, Mexico, or Canada one year before the World Cup may be a very serious possibility for Neymar.

James eyes on MLS for the future

The Colombian midfielder had a Q&A session on his Twitch channel (James1222), where he answered several questions about his football career.

The former Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Everton midfielder were asked about his current situation. “I don’t know what’s going to happen, I live day by day. At least I’m playing, I’m competing, I’m doing things right, I’m scoring goals and creating assists.”

He also added: “Physically I’m fine, why not go back to Europe, I have the conditions for that, I’m getting into a rhythm. A good option would be the United States (MLS), which I like a lot, but that’s still a long way off”

Neymar Jr is one of the best meta cards in FIFA 22. The gold card was priced at around 300k FUT coins before the 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback card broke the transfer market.

Is the 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback SBC worth doing?

The Neymar Jr Flashback SBC is priced at a sweet range of around 300,000 FUT coins which is great at this time in FIFA 22. It requires only 2 squads of 85 and 86 rated with 1 TOTW player in each squad. Let’s look into the stats in detail:

Screenshot 912 FIFA 22: How to do the 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback SBC and is it worth doing?

The 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback card has 5* skill move and 4* weak foot, which is absolutely fantastic. The card also has a high attacking work rate and a medium defensive work rate.

Screenshot 914 FIFA 22: How to do the 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback SBC and is it worth doing?

The Flashback card has more pace and shooting than the 91 rated gold card. The dribbling, defending and strength is almost the same. The only real downgrade is his passing which has been lowered to 80 from 86. However, the pace, shooting and dribbling combination is absolutely insane in this card.

Screenshot 915 FIFA 22: How to do the 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback SBC and is it worth doing?

The 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback card has directly got into my starting 11. He gets full chemistry from 91-rated Prime Icon Socrates. The full chemistry further boosts the pace and shooting of the Neymar card and also gives him enough physical to go past defenders. For me, the hawk is the go-to chemistry style for this card.

The Flashback card is overpowered and it really performs way above its 87 rating, like a 91 rated card, as represented in Futbin. I have played FUT online matches with this card and it is absolutely insane. This card is a must-do. All the Flashback SBC cards in FIFA 22 has been great and the 87-rated Neymar Jr Flashback card further adds to the collection.

  • Neymar admits wanting to return to Barcelona in 2019

Neymar admits wanting to return to Barcelona in 2019

Messi, Suarez and Neymar were one of the most fearsome attacking trios in world football during their days together at Barcelona. However, PSG paid Neymar’s release clause of around 222 million euros and signed the Brazilian in 2017.

However, there have been multiple rumours, over the years linking, him with a possible return to Barcelona. It was in 2019 that the Brazilian almost made up his mind to come back to Camp Nou but the deal didn’t go through and he stayed in Paris.

Now, Neymar has been once again reunited with his Barcelona teammate Messi at PSG, as the French club signed the Argentine at the start of the season on a free transfer due to Barcelona’s financial struggles.

Neymar admits wanting to return to Barcelona in 2019

Neymar’s documentary has been recently released on Netflix. The documentary has revealed plenty of insights into how close he was to leaving Paris Saint-Germain and returning to Barcelona.

Neymar’s father said: “He wanted to leave PSG to go back to Barcelona”

“I didn’t want him to leave PSG, but who do I work for?”

“We tried to leave PSG amicably but it didn’t work out.”

Neymar himself spoke about the possible move and his reasoning for wanting to leave PSG. He said: “When I made the decision to leave PSG, it wasn’t because of a fan or a club. It’s because I saw that I would feel better elsewhere.”

“I never had anything against the PSG fans, nor against the club itself. It was never that. On the contrary, I am very grateful.”

“Even though I didn’t want to continue, I had to train and be prepared. Because if I played badly, everyone would blame me.”

“If we lose I’m the first person responsible. I know the burden and the responsibility I have.”

  • Top 10 dribblers in Europe’s top five leagues

Top 10 dribblers in Europe’s top five leagues

Having swift feet and dribbling past opponents is one of the most exhilarating football skills to watch. And in this article, we look at the players with the most successful dribbles per 100 minutes. The stats for the dribblers come from the CIES Football Observatory, who also published the Sustainability Report

    10. Kylian Mbappe: 5.33

The PSG star has 5.33 successful dribbles every 100 minutes, and has a success rate of 55.7%. He has scored and assisted 6 goals in 12 games so far, and can back up his profile as a dribbler with an end product.

    9. Nahitan Nandez: 5.56

The Cagliari player has an astounding dribbling success rate of 70%, and averages a dribble every 13 minutes.

    8. Sofiane Boufal: 5.52

Playing for French club Angers, Boufal averages a dribble every 10 minutes and more than half of them are successful. He has an index score of 5.52 dribbles per 100.

    7. Jeremie Boga: 5.80

The Sassuolo attacking midfielder is known for being an agile dribbler, and he ranks above Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr in the list. He has a success rate of 61%.

    6. Alphonso Davies: 6.14

In addition to his outstanding pace, Davies is a skilled dribbler of the football as well. He has a success rate of 65% and has provided three assists in the league as a result.

    5. Neymar: 6.28

Being a skillful dribbler is one of the things that makes Neymar so unique. But, he is not the best dribbler according to the numbers. He still has a success rate of 60% and has provided three goals and three assists as well.

    4. Kamaldeen Sulemana: 6.44

The Rennes midfielder inherited the number 10 shirt from Eduardo Camavinga, and is the only teenager in the top five. He averages a dribble every 8 minutes and has scored four goals and provided two assists.

    3. Allan Saint-Maximin: 7.02

Allan Saint-Maximin is by far the best player that Newcastle United have. His skills as a dribbler are unrivalled, and he achieves a successful dribble 61% of the time.

    2. Rafael Leao: 7.10

While some may be surprised to see the Portuguese forward in the list, he has better numbers than most top forwards this season. He has also added four goals and an assist in twelve games to back up the dribbling skills.

    1. Adama Traore: 11.24

Traore remains as the best dribbler in the top five leagues in Europe by a huge margin. The player has an index score of 11.24, and averages an incredible success rate of 79%. However, despite being the best dribbler in the top European leagues, he has no goals or assists to add to it.

  • Top 5 left-wingers in the world in November 2021

Top 5 left-wingers in the world in November 2021

The role of a winger has evolved over the years, with goalscoring just as important as being able to deliver balls into the box. In this article, we will look at the top five left-wingers in the world right now.

    5. Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

The Napoli captain had a remarkable performance in Euros, as he led Italy to the title. The player is deployed on the left wing for both Italy and Napoli. He has continued his form for the club as well, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 14 games across all competitions.

    4. Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich)

Sane has managed to develop himself into an undisputed starter under Julian Nagelsmann. The skilled German winger has provided 8 goals and 5 assists in 17 games across all competitions.

    3. Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid)

Vincius Jr is arguably the most talked-about left-winger right now, since he is enjoying his breakout season at Real Madrid. The 21-year-old has scored nine goals and provided two assists in 16 games across all competitions, and has become an unstoppable force on the left flank.

    2. Neymar (PSG)

Neymar is without a doubt the most skilled player on this list. The PSG forward operates alongside Lionel Messi once again, and has 3 goals and assists each in 11 games across all competitions. The Brazilian has proven himself at the top level time and time again, and will have his eyes on the Champions League trophy this year.

    1. Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

While Vinicius Jr is making a name for himself this year, Sadio Mane is already established as one of the best in the world at Liverpool. The Senegalese winger recently hit the 100-goal mark in the Premier League and continues to be one of the first names on the team sheet for Jürgen Klopp.

  • Why is Neymar planning to have the 2022 World Cup as his last?

Why is Neymar planning to have the 2022 World Cup as his last?

Neymar recently talked about the Qatar World Cup in 2022 being his last for the Brazil National team. He will be 31 by the time the tournament rolls around, and by the time the 2026 World Cup is held, he will be 35.

“I think the Qatar World Cup will be my last,” Neymar told DAZN. “I don’t know if I have the mental capacity to continue playing football.”

The Brazilian has been the subject of constant criticism from fans and has not quite been the same player since leaving Barcelona and coming to PSG in his first few years. The PSG board hopes that the arrival of Lionel Messi at the club will help Neymar get the spark back that he somehow seems to have lost.

The winger came close to winning the Copa America with the national team this year, but was defeated by Lionel Messi’s Argentina, who won their first trophy in decades. But in the shadow of the defeat, Neymar continued his wait for a major trophy with Brazil.

At 30, Neymar is still expected to deliver the World Cup next year and has a remarkable team behind him to help him do so. But, the constant criticism and comparison to elites like Messi and Ronaldo might have taken their toll on the player already.

Considering the player’s words, it seems that he will only retire from national duty and will continue to play for PSG given that he just signed a new contract with them.

  • Neymar considering international retirement after 2022 World Cup

Neymar considering international retirement after 2022 World Cup

Brazil and PSG star Neymar has surprisingly talked about the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar being his last World Cup with Brazil. The winger is currently 30 and will be 34 by the time USA, Canada and Mexico host the tournament for the first time in 2026.

Neymar is en route to becoming the top scorer for Brazil and South America. He recently competed in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups with six goals.

‘I think it’s my last World Cup,’ the 29-year-old told DAZN during the making of ‘Neymar & The Line Of Kings’, an exclusive new documentary.

‘I see it as my last because I don’t know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football any more.

‘So I’ll do everything to turn up well, do everything to win with my country, to realise my greatest dream since I was little. And I hope I can do it.’

The Confederations Cup is the only trophy that Neymar has lifted with Brazil apart from the gold medal in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. This year, Neymar was a part of the Brazil squad that lost to Argentina in the finals of the Copa America. And with the loss, his quest for another major trophy with Brazil as part of the squad continues.

Neymar has currently 69 goals for the national team, and is only seven eight goals behind the legendary Pele’s record for the national team.
