CSK CEO Squashes Split IPL Speculations: The anticipation for IPL 2024 has stirred up a wave of speculation, especially considering the looming Lok Sabha elections. However, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has put the split IPL rumors to rest, asserting that teams have been instructed to gear up for a complete tournament on Indian grounds.
Let’s have a look into more details : CSK CEO Squashes Split IPL Speculations
The primary cause for the split IPL buzz revolves around the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 2024, with the tentative timeframe falling between April and May. Given the overlap in dates, concerns arose regarding the possibility of splitting the IPL schedule. However, Kasi Viswanathan, dismissing these concerns, revealed, “They have not informed us anything about a split schedule. What they have said is that we should be prepared to play IPL in India, this is what we got to hear from them during the auction.”
CSK’s CEO’s statement hints at a strategic approach to avoid clashes between IPL matches and election dates. The emphasis on teams being ready to play in India suggests a concerted effort to harmonize the IPL schedule with the yet-to-be-confirmed election dates. The alignment aims to ensure an uninterrupted and seamless cricketing extravaganza for fans and franchises alike.
While the tentative start date for IPL 2024 is pegged at March 22, the official schedule is pending release, contingent on the finalization of general election dates. The intersection of political and cricketing calendars necessitates a meticulous planning approach to accommodate both events seamlessly.
Despite the off-field speculations, CSK remains focused on their on-field preparations. The defending champions are eager to commence their title defense, with plans for an early camp in the first week of March. Kasi Viswanathan affirmed, “We are planning for a camp somewhere by the first week of March. The IPL season is likely to start by the 22nd of March. So, we will have our first camp by the first week in Chennai.”
CSK’s resolute stance and proactive preparation reflect the determination to deliver an uninterrupted, full-fledged IPL experience to fans. As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the official schedule, the assurance from CSK’s CEO provides a reassuring glimpse into the organisational efforts to ensure a seamless integration of IPL 2024 with the democratic process of elections. The stage is set, and cricket aficionados can look forward to an IPL spectacle that transcends potential scheduling challenges.

A Glorious IPL Journey
In the 2023 IPL season, CSK clinched their fifth championship title with a remarkable victory over the reigning champions, Gujarat Titans, in the final. This triumph marked their fifth title in 14 seasons, making them the most successful team in IPL history. From their initial victory in 2010 to their latest triumph in 2023, CSK’s journey has been an awe-inspiring saga of perseverance and determination.
A Tale of Comebacks and Triumphs
CSK’s IPL journey has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride. From defending their title in 2011 to overcoming a two-year suspension and bouncing back with their third title in 2018, CSK has epitomized resilience. Even a forgettable season in 2022 couldn’t deter them, as they scripted a historic fifth IPL crown in 2023, securing their position as an indomitable force in the league.
As CSK celebrates this remarkable achievement on Twitter, fans around the world join in commemorating the team’s unwavering spirit, both on and off the field. This milestone stands as a testament to the power of fandom and the indelible impact of a united cricketing community.
Once again, the Chennai Super Kings emerge victoriously in the IPL final, eventually lifting up their 5th IPL trophy. It has been an absolute glory for CSK and especially MS Dhoni, as they have now equalized the Mumbai Indians for winning the maximum number of Indian Premier League titles. Credit goes to the team effort of CSK for lifting up the title, especially the batting department, where the batters held their nerve and led their team to get past the target via the DLS method. The rain had been a major issue, and it took almost three days for the game to come to a deciding result.
The Match
The match started with GT coming to bat, and both Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill gave their team a good start. They both started well, and Saha even scored a half-century and eventually continued performing well in the IPL finals. And the knock of the day came from the bat of emerging Sai Sudarshan, who scored 96 of 47 with eight fours and six sixes.
However, things weren’t fully in favor of GT when CSK came to bat, as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put up pressure on their opposition. Though the rain stopped play for some time, and then it was decided that 171 would be the winning score for CSK in 15 overs as per the DLS method. Eventually, with the joint effort of the CSK batters, the men in yellow secured the victory.

Radeja leading CSK to the win
Though CSK batters made runs the GT bowlers were also holding the match and didn’t allow their opposition to completely take it away from them. When the target seemed a bit hard or nearly impossible, Radeja hit a four and a six to lead his team towards victory.
To a great disappointment of millions of cricket fans, the IPL Final between GT and CSK couldn’t be played on Sunday due to heavy rain. The match was called off without a single ball being played. It’s the first time in IPL history that the final showdown has to be postponed due to rain.
IPL Final 2023: reserve day on Monday
Though dejected on Sunday night, fans would be happy to know that there’s a reserve day for the game to be played. It will take place on Monday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The aim will be for a full over game. In case that’s not possible again due to rain, a five-over match would still be open. If that possibility is ruled out too, there’ll be a super over to decide the champions. In case that couldn’t be fulfilled either, Gujarat Titans will be declared the winner of the present IPL season as they finished first in the group stage.
Harsha Bhogle, shared a tweet about the same.
“Hopefully, full game tomorrow. In the unlikely situation that we can’t even a 5 overs a side game, there will be a super over. If even that is not possible, the team that finished higher at the end of the league stage is declared the winner.”

Twitter divided in opinion
Following the tweet, the tweeter has been divided into opinions. According to some, it’s best to declare the Qualifier 1 winner the champion, as that team reached the finals first. While, some are saying that a shared championship would be justified in case there’s no game.
However, the decision from the authorities is final. In case there’s no game due to rain, the defending champions will be declared the winners.
Fans will be praying for a full game now as that would bring out a more justified result. Will it be Hardik Pandya’s Titans who will lift their second consecutive trophy? Or, will Dhoni lead CSK to their fifth championship? Stay tuned to find out.
Tuesday night was special for Dhoni fans as CSK made their way yet again to the finals, set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, this Sunday.
They defeated Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 to emerge as the first finalists of the season.

CSK beat GT by 15 runs: and make their way to the finals
Things were geared up in Chennai to host Qualifier 1 between the defending champions GT and MS Dhoni’s CSK. Winning the toss, Hardik Pandya decided to send the men in yellow to bat first, and they did a pretty good job putting up 172 runs on board.
It was a fair batting display from Chennai, with Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring the highest for the team, i.e., a 44-ball 60. Both Shami and Mohit Sharma picked up two wickets each to restrict them to a below-180 score.
GT fell short by 15 runs
Coming to chase the run, GT didn’t have the superb of starts but a fair one. Except for a 38-ball 42 by Shubman Gill, the batters weren’t able to put up a great show.
During the concluding phase of the inning, Rashid Khan played an outstanding cameo of a 16-ball 32 including two sixes and three boundaries. However, that was not enough to help Gujarat pass the winning mark, as Khan didn’t receive much support.
Defeating them by 15 runs, CSK made their way to the finals. LSG will meet Mumbai in the Eliminator on Wednesday, and the winner of it will play GT on Friday to decide the second finalist of the season.
Will IPL get a new winner this season? Or, there might be a repetition. Lots of actions coming up this week. Stay tuned!
CSK have finished their group league match on a high note and are all set to lock horns with Gujarat Titans in the playoffs. The men in yellow defeated the Delhi Capitals at their home ground by a huge margin of 77 runs and sealed a victory again with a team effort. Indeed the team has been doing well through the season, and CSK is again a big contender to win the title this season.
The Match
CSK primarily started the match on a high note when the openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway,, were destructive in their opening partnership. The former one scored 70 of 50 balls with three fours and seven sixes, and the latter one achieved 87 runs with 11 fours and 3 sixes. They only set the tone for CSK, and the other batters hardly had anything to do. With the help of the cameo innings from Jadeja and Shivam Dube, CSK reached a mammoth total of 223 with the loss of 3 wickets only.
CSK kept up their performance at the time of bowling as well, as no one from the Delhi Capitals except David Warner was able to bat well, which eventually helped the men in yellow secure a huge win. Only the DC skipper scored big which was 86 of 58 balls with seven fours and five sixes. All the bowlers from the winning team picked up wickets in frequent intervals.
CSK to lock horns with GT
Chennai Super Kings is also set to lock horns with the Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 1 of the Playoffs. Both the teams have played brilliantly through the group stage, and it is to be seen who can punch their ticket first to the finals of the present season of the Indian Premier League.
KKR keeps their playoff hopes alive, pulling a six-wicket victory against CSK on Sunday night. They moved seventh to the points table with two crucial points in the cabinet. CSK stands in second place with 15 points.
KKR keeps their playoff hopes alive, defeating CSK by six wickets
Sunday’s game was a must-win for KKR, and they bagged a comfortable victory even after a shaky start. Home captain MS Dhoni chowed to bat first after winning the toss. His men could only put up a 145-run total on the board as they stumbled against KKR’s magnificent bowling attack.
KKR pillar Sunil Narine picked up two wickets, conceding just fifteen runs in four overs. Chakravarthy picked up two wickets too.
The men in yellow couldn’t really glitter up today except for Shivam Dube, who stood there till the end for a well-made 48 off 34 with three sixes and a boundary.
Comfortable win following a shaky start for the men in purple
Coming down to chase a small target, KKR didn’t have the ideal start, as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. However, thanks to Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana’s match-winning partnership helped KKR chase down the target in 18.3 overs.
Coming down to bat at 33/3, Rinku Singh once again showed strength and character to help his team with yet another run chase. He has been phenomenal this season, especially with run chases, and no wonder why he has three Player of the Match awards in his cabinet, including today’s, this season.
It will be a happy skipper and fans as Kolkata keeps their hope alive for the playoffs. Lots of calculations will come, and they must win their last game against Lucknow on their home ground on Saturday.
Delhi Capitals derailed again in IPL 2023 with yet another loss. CSK hosted Wednesday evening’s game, and in the ones, it was a comprehensive win for CSK. While they earned two crucial points to stay in second place, DC takes another step back from the playoffs.
Easy win for CSK in Chidambaram: beats Delhi by 27 runs
Winning the toss, the CSK came down to bat first and didn’t have the best of starts from their smashing openers Conway and Gaikwad. However, it was a team effort, as all the batters contributed enough to take the score to 167.
The crowd went, as usual, crazy when MSD stepped out to bat. He didn’t upset his fans, as he hit the ball out of the park twice! His short cameo of 20 off nine also included a boundary, which was very crucial at that stage.
Mitchell Marsh was exceptional with the ball as he conceded just 18 runs picking up three important wickets for Dhoni, Jadeja, and Dube. Axar Patel was great, too, as he picked up two wickets, giving away just 27 runs in four overs. It was a wicket each for Khaleel, Kuldeep, and Lalit Yadav.
DC fell 27 runs short
Coming down to chase a decent total, DC struggled from the beginning as they lost skipper Warner in the second ball. Salt started well with two sixes and a four but was dismissed soon by Deepak Chahar.
The next batters couldn’t put up much of a show except for a little cameo from Axar, who hit 21 of 12. However, it wasn’t enough to earn the team two points, and the visitors fell 27 runs short of the target.
Chahar and Pathirana picked up two and three wickets, respectively, while Jadeja picked up one conceding just 19 runs in four overs. He struck 21 off 16 while batting and was deservingly awarded the player of the match.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With four IPL titles to their name, they have consistently been one of the top-performing teams in the league. After a disappointing performance in IPL 2022, the Yellow Army made some significant changes to their squad ahead of IPL 2023.
Let’s take a closer look at what to expect from the team in the upcoming season: Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023
History
Chennai Super Kings is an IPL team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The team was founded in 2008 and is owned by India Cements. CSK has won four IPL titles under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who was purchased for Rs 9.5 Crore in the inaugural auction. CSK’s success can be attributed to the partnership of Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming.
After losing the final in 2008 and the semi-final in 2009, CSK won back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011. They then faltered in the knockouts in the next four IPLs before being banned for two years due to a spot-fixing scandal. In 2018, CSK returned to the IPL and won their third title. In 2019, CSK lost to Mumbai Indians in a tense final by just one run. The next year, for the first time in history, CSK failed to make it to the playoffs in the UAE. However, they made a comeback in 2022 and defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the final to win their fourth IPL title.
CSK has the highest win percentage of matches among all IPL teams, which is 58.98%. They have made the most appearances in playoffs (11) and have reached the most number of IPL finals (9). They have also won the Champions League T20 twice, in 2010 and 2014.
CSK retained 18 players for IPL 2023, including their iconic skipper MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Deepak Chahar. The franchise also brought in some exciting players like Ben Stokes and Ajinkya Rahane in the auction. However, Stokes’ replacement Sisanda Magala will be filling in for him after his unexpected retirement. In the released list, CSK lost Dwayne Bravo and Robin Uthappa, both of whom were vital cogs in their previous campaigns. While their bowling department seems to be well-balanced, the batting unit could face some issues with a lack of Indian top-order batsmen.

Hayden’s opinion about Ben Stokes could be significant for CSK as Stokes is known for his match-winning performances in the international arena. However, his performances in the IPL have not been up to the mark, and he will be looking to change that with CSK this season. Stokes’ all-around abilities with both bat and ball make him a valuable addition to the CSK squad.
CSK’s biggest strength is their all-rounders. With Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shivam Dube, they have some of the best all-rounders in the world. The team can manage to have 7 bowling options on any given day, even when playing with only 4 bowlers. These players are electric on the field and are great athletes, which ensures that the team is always on top of its game. The experience of MS Dhoni, along with his tactical acumen, has been a key reason for CSK’s success over the years.

One of CSK’s major weaknesses is their over-dependence on their top-order batsmen. In the previous season, the middle-order failed to capitalize on the good starts given by the openers, leading to some embarrassing losses. The team management has addressed this issue to some extent by bringing in some quality middle-order batsmen in the auction. Another concern for the team could be their spin bowling department, as they lack a quality spinner apart from Ravindra Jadeja.
CSK had a forgettable outing in IPL 2022, finishing at the bottom of the points table with just eight points. However, the team showed some glimpses of their old form towards the end of the tournament, which they will be hoping to carry forward into the upcoming season. The team has been preparing well ahead of the new season, with MS Dhoni and other key players already training in Chennai.
Despite their poor showing in the previous season, CSK will still be one of the favourites to win the IPL in 2023. With the changes made to their squad and the return of some key players, they will be aiming to lift their fifth IPL title. However, their over-reliance on their top-order batsmen and a lack of quality spinners could hurt their chances. The team will need to play to their strengths and address their weaknesses to make a real challenge for the trophy.

CSK will be aiming to bounce back in IPL 2023 after their dismal performance in the previous season. The franchise has made some smart moves in the auction, bringing in some quality players to strengthen their squad. Their all-rounders and experience in the form of MS Dhoni will be their biggest strengths. However, their over-reliance on their top-order batsmen and lack of quality spinners could hurt their chances. CSK will need to play to their strengths and address their weaknesses to make a real challenge for the trophy. With the tournament set to begin on March 26, the Yellow Army will be raring to go and make its mark in IPL 2023!
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni made headlines on Monday when he joined the exclusive club of cricketers who have completed 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-hander achieved the feat during CSK’s homecoming match against Lucknow Super Giants, where he scored a quickfire 12 runs off just three balls, including two massive sixes.
MS Dhoni becomes the seventh player to breach the 5000-run mark in the history of IPL.
Before the Lucknow Super Giants match, he had scored 4978 runs in 207 innings. He reached the 5000-run landmark in his 208th innings.
Currently, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, and AB de Villiers are ahead of Dhoni in the list of most IPL runs.
MS Dhoni now needs 158 runs during the tournament to surpass AB de Villiers in the list and take the No. 6 spot on the table.
Kohli leads the overall IPL run chart with 6707 runs from 224 matches, followed by Dhawan with 6284 runs in 207 IPL matches.
With 5937 runs, David Warner acquires the third spot, while Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is fourth with 5880 runs in 228 IPL matches.
Former CSK player Raina (5528 runs in 205 IPL matches) and AB de Villiers (5162 runs in 184 IPL matches) are fifth and sixth on the list, respectively.
Dhoni has 5004 runs from 234 matches, with a strike rate of 135.54 and an average of 39.09.
Dhoni made his IPL debut for CSK in 2008 and has played for the team ever since, except for the two seasons when he played for Rising Pune Supergiants.
CSK posted a challenging total of 218 runs for Lucknow Super Giants to chase, courtesy of fine knocks from Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, and Ambati Rayudu.
Dhoni’s achievement is a testament to his exceptional skills as a batsman and his contribution to the IPL over the years. It will be interesting to see if he can surpass de Villiers and move up the ladder in the list of most IPL runs. For now, CSK fans can revel in the glory of their captain’s latest milestone and look forward to more fireworks from the team as the tournament progresses.
