How did a small kingdom rise to unify an entire peninsula? **Sword & Silence** tells that story, and new stills reveal the key players behind one of history’s biggest turning points. Directed by Kim Yeong Jo of *Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth*, the drama traces how Silla overcame Goguryeo, Baekje and China’s Tang dynasty to unify the [Three Kingdoms of Korea](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Kingdoms_of_Korea). If you love a sweeping historical epic, this one looks promising.

## Sword & Silence: The Rulers and Advisers

**Go Young Bin as King Uija:** The ruler of Baekje is capable and courageous, yet carries a vulnerable side. He struggles with the stigma around his unclear lineage and with opposition from powerful figures.

**Im Ho as Seong Chung:** A loyal servant who gives the king painful but honest advice. When King Uija ignores his aides and removes officials who oppose him, Baekje’s downfall speeds up.

**Kim Byung Gi as Sataek Ji Jeok:** A noble at the heart of political and economic power. He acts as political partner and mentor, helping the king establish his royal authority in the early years of his reign.

**Kim Woo Dam as Gyebaek:** A brave, steadfast general who commands Queen Sataek’s royal guard. Even after local nobles abandon Baekje, he leads reinforcements himself and faces Kim Yu Shin (Park Sung Woong) with fierce resolve, even willing to kill his own family.

**Lee Dal as Geomil:** A former Silla official who defects to Baekje seeking revenge, after Kim Pum Seok (Kim Heung Soo), governor of Daeyaseong Fortress, took his wife during the Battle of Daeyaseong. He meets a tragic end after Baekje falls.
