If you’ve been refreshing Netflix hoping to find the next chapter of Kirito’s journey, you’re not alone. The **Sword Art Online season 4 release date** on Netflix is one of the most searched anime questions out there — and the answer is more nuanced than you might expect. Let’s cut through the confusion and get you up to speed.

## Sword Art Online on Netflix — Season-by-Season Overview

| Season | Title | Netflix Status |

## So What Exactly Is “Season 4” of SAO?

Here’s where things get confusing for new fans. [Sword Art Online](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_Art_Online) has aired across multiple cours and story arcs since its debut in 2012, and streaming platforms count the seasons differently. What many viewers call “Season 4” is the second half of the **Alicization arc** — titled *Alicization: War of Underworld Part 2* — which wraps up the epic conflict in the Underworld following Kirito’s comatose state and Alice’s desperate stand against the Dark Territory’s invasion.

The story picks up after the Ocean Turtle is raided, leaving Kirito in a digital coma. Alice carries the unconscious Kirito home to Rulid Village — setting the stage for a war on a scale the series had never attempted before.

## Is Sword Art Online Season 4 Coming to Netflix?

As of early 2026, **Season 4 is not available on Netflix** in the United States or most major regions. It can currently be streamed on **Crunchyroll** (including via the Amazon Channel add-on).

However, history gives fans reason for cautious optimism. Netflix received Season 3 approximately **18 months** after its Japanese broadcast finale (which aired March 2019, arriving on Netflix in October 2020). Following that same pattern, Season 4 could theoretically land on Netflix — but there has been no official announcement from Netflix or Aniplex of America confirming this.

## Where Can You Watch SAO Season 4 Right Now?

| **Crunchyroll (Amazon Channel)** | ✅ All episodes available |
| **Netflix** | ❌ Not available |

## Which Countries Have SAO on Netflix?

Netflix still streams the earlier seasons of SAO in regions like Argentina, Brazil, Canada, India, South Korea, Singapore, Mexico, Italy, and Thailand among others, making it likely these regions would be prioritised for Season 4 if a deal is struck.
