India’s opening game against Sweden in the WU23 3-way tournament ended in a 1-0 defeat. The home team managed to take advantage of a defensive lapse from India in the dying stages of the game to steal the winner.
Five minutes of injury time were added onto the 90, but the referee did not blow the whistle. Six minutes into stoppage time, Linn Vickius gave Sweden the lead which eventually led to a win for them with barely any time remaining.

The visitors put on a spirited performance as part of their exposure tour, but were unable to come away with at least a draw. Goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan put in a remarkable performance, but it ended in heartbreak as they ended up losing the game.
However, there are a lot of positives to take away from the game against Sweden and the Tigresses can now prepare themselves for their next fixture against USWNT U23s. This will be the first time that the two countries meet on the pitch, and it is expected to be one to watch.
But India will have to be more clinical in attack and look to be more threatening if they are to create a winning chance against their opposition in the coming games.
