Sven Botman is all set to make the move to Newcastle United from Lille. Total agreement has been reached between the two clubs for a transfer fee, and the details of the deal. And now, the move is set to go through officially.
Newcastle United will be paying €37 million plus add-ons for the centre-back, and will be the next defensive addition to the team after Nick Pope. The Saudi Arabia-owned club have laid down the foundation of the kind of business they want to do – clever, reasonable deals. Despite being the club with the richest owners, they are not abusing their financial power and are doing smart business in the market.
Sven Botman agrees move to Newcastle United
The Toons tried to sign the defender in the January transfer window as well, and made three bids to Lille. But, they were not able to reach an agreement over the transfer fee. Now, they have finally been able to break through and sign their target.
Sven Botman was pursued by AC Milan as well, and had agreed personal terms over a move to San Siro as well. However, the Rossoneri did not table a formal offer for the 22-year-old and have now missed out on their man. They will need defensive reinforcements having lost Alessio Romagnoli, and will continue their search elsewhere.
The medical assessment has been booked for the transfer to go through, and we can expect the official announcement from the Magpies in the next few days.
