### Why Is the Trailer Delayed?

Taking to social media, RJ Balaji explained that while the trailer is fully ready, the team chose to hold it back due to the current situation unfolding around them. In his words, they did not want to release it only for other news to overshadow it. He added that they are also planning to drop the extended version of the *Verappa* song alongside the trailer, and expressed hope that a clear solution emerges soon.

It’s a thoughtful, measured call — and honestly, a refreshing one. In an era where films dump content regardless of context, the *Karuppu* team is reading the room.

### What Is Karuppu About?

The film is set in a world consumed by chaos, where fear, injustice, and suffering have become everyday realities. Amid this turmoil, a mysterious man emerges as an unlikely superhero who confronts personal struggles and harsh realities before discovering his true strength and purpose.

Think of it as a deeply grounded superhero origin — the kind Tamil cinema does best. You can read more about the broader [fantasy film](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_film) genre on Wikipedia to understand just how rare it is to pull this off with authenticity.

### What’s Next for Suriya?

After Karuppu, Suriya will be seen in *Vishwanath and Sons*, an emotionally driven romantic drama directed by Venky Atluri, featuring Mamitha Baiju and Raveena Tandon, slated for July 2026. He has also begun work on *Suriya47*, a cop action-comedy directed by Jithu Madhavan, starring Nazriya Nazim as the female lead.
