Border 2, a sequel to the 1997 film of the same title, is expected to hit theaters in January of the upcoming year.
According to a report from Pinkvilla, the movie, featuring Sunny Deol and Ayushmann Khurrana, “has been in the writing phase for over a year, and the team has successfully developed a script.”

Shortly thereafter, they revealed that Sunny Deol would reprise his role as Major Kuldip Singh Chanduri in the sequel, as the creators have crafted an intriguing narrative to propel the franchise forward. Additionally, they announced that Ayushmann Khurrana would be a fresh addition to the franchise, portraying a substantial character within the Indian Armed Forces. Later updates disclosed that Border 2 would be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Singh.

Producers Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, along with director Anurag Singh, are aiming for a release on Friday, January 23, 2026, leading up to the Republic Day holiday on Monday, January 26, 2026. The source also revealed that “Border 2” is envisioned to be the most significant war film in Indian Cinema, with the makers fully committed to delivering a production that honors the legacy of the original film. “Border 2” has undergone over a year of meticulous writing, resulting in a script that meets the high expectations associated with a sequel to a monumental blockbuster like “Border.” Sunny Deol and Ayushmann Khurrana are eagerly anticipating the commencement of this journey by the end of the year, according to the source.
