India captain Sunil Chhetri is set to captain the national team for the final time in his career on June 6 against Kuwait. The striker will finish his national team career after making 151 appearances in total, scoring 94 goals across all competitions.
The veteran faced the press ahead of the match, where he was asked whether he would consider becoming a head coach after his playing career.

‘I know the internet is gonna kill me for this but I am saying it right now, I don’t want to be a coach’ said Sunil Chhetri.
‘5 years ago when this guy [Igor Stimac] came, he was so good-looking, such a handsome man and now he has aged 15 years in just five,’ added the captain.
The striker added that he is looking forward to relaxing and not having to push himself every day as part of training, and to spend more time with his family.
India need to win the game against Kuwait to achieve their target of making it to Round 3 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, and also have a chance against Qatar, who have not called up many of their stars for the coming break.
