Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis Announce Collaboration for WTT Star Contender Goa

The WTT Star Contender was first introduced to India by Stupa Sports Analytics, a prominent sports analytics firm based in India with a global reach. The event is a highlight of the international table tennis calendar, attracting top players from around the world. In its previous edition, the event witnessed participation from world-renowned players such as Fan Zhendong, Tomokazu Harimoto, Wang Yidi, and Hina Hayata. Notably, it also featured 40 Indian participants, marking the highest attendance for a WTT event from the country.

This alliance between UTT and Stupa Sports Analytics aims to elevate the stature of the WTT Star Contender, cementing it as a significant sporting event in India. The partnership seeks to unite world-class players under one roof, celebrating a week of exceptional table tennis performances.

Megha Gambhir, CEO and Co-founder of Stupa Sports Analytics lauded the success of the inaugural WTT Star Contender Goa and highlighted the potential of such events in promoting the growth of table tennis in India.

UTT has been actively working towards establishing a high-quality league that bridges the gap between players and fans, both within India and internationally. With an ambition to set unparalleled benchmarks for the sport, UTT has played a crucial role in nurturing a thriving table tennis community.

Vita Dani, co-promoter at UTT, underscored the significance of the collaboration in fostering international unity in table tennis and providing a platform for passionate players and fans to converge in India.

The prestigious tournament forms part of the six-star Contender series events, where only the top 30 ranked players are eligible to participate, with at least six players from the top 20 in the world rankings. The tournament offers a substantial prize pool of $250,000 and presents players with the opportunity to earn ranking points and qualify for the WTT Cup Finals and WTT Champions Series.

Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis will co-host the tournament under the guidance of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).

Kamlesh Mehta, Secretary General of the TTFI, expressed his full support for Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis in making the second edition of the tournament as successful as the first one.

The World Table Tennis (WTT), conceived by the International Table Tennis Federation in 2019, serves as the hub for professional men’s and women’s table tennis events worldwide. The series includes various events throughout the year, with the four Grand Smashes being the most prestigious tournaments.

In the inaugural edition of the tournament, China’s Liang Jingkun and Yidi emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively.
