Capcom has announced that all Street Fighter 6 players will receive a free in-game surprise in recognition of the game’s one-millionth player. Following the modest success of Street Fighter 5 when it was released in 2016, there were some concerns that Street Fighter 6 may experience similar difficulties. Nonetheless, Capcom looks to be happy and jubilant about the recent release of Street Fighter 6, and players are receiving the advantages.
Street Fighter 6 was released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on Friday.
Although initial sales figures are not yet available, there is an indication that Capcom’s launch was a huge success.
However, this is the first official announcement about how many people are playing Street Fighter 6. Capcom confirmed that the fighting game has one million gamers in a message delivered to the Japanese Street Fighter Twitter account. For comparison, Street Fighter 5 is projected to have sold fewer than 500,000 copies in its first week of release. Of course, online players do not always correspond to total copies sold. Fighter 6’s overall sales might well exceed one million units.
Capcom is giving away a prize to everyone who is presently login into Street Fighter 6 to commemorate its first million players. It’s nothing out of the ordinary. No free Fighter 6 skins or cash is available. Instead, Capcom is giving every Street Fighter 6 gamer a free title.
The title is “Just Picked Up SF6” and can be claimed in-game notifications. It’s an excellent title for rookie Fighter 6 players to use to express that they’re just getting started with the game.
Another fantastic announcement made accompanying Fighter 6 surpassing one million players is far more astounding. The total number of copies sold in the Street Fighter franchise has now topped 50 million.
Street Fighter 6 accounts for only a small portion of that total at the moment, but it has the potential to become one of, if not the, most successful games in Street Fighter history over time.
Street Fighter 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
