Steven Bergwijn has joined Al Ittihad from Ajax in a €25 million deal. The player has completed the medical tests involved for the move and has also signed the contract with the Saudi Arabian club to complete his transfer.
He leaves Ajax after spending two years with the club following his return to the Netherlands from Tottenham. Over the past two seasons, he has scored 29 goals and provided 12 assists in 80 games, which is a solid return for a winger.

The 26-year-old has signed a contract till 2027 with the Saudi Arabian club, but could be set to lose his spot with the Dutch national team. Ronald Koeman recently spoke out against Bergwijn’s move to Al Ittihad, saying:
“Steven Bergwijn goes to Saudi Arabia at age 26. It’s clear that this has nothing to do with sportive ambition. His book with the Dutch National Team is closed. He probably knows that I would have said this.”
The winger has made 35 appearances for the Netherlands national team, scoring eight goals. He was most recently in action at Euro 2024, playing in the Round of 16 and quarter finals of the tournament.
Which other winger has Al Ittihad signed recently?
