January 20th, 2021, Mumbai:   Amateur Riders’ Club (ARC) today announced the commencement of its fifth polo tournament of the season– Sternhagen Cup (10 goal tournament).

The tournament will take place between 4 teams and will be held from 19th January to 24th January 2021. Teams taking part in the tournament would be Dynamix Achievers, V Polo, Los Polistas and Piramal / ASC.

The first two matches took place today between Team V Polo and Team Dynamix Achievers where Dynamix Achievers won with 6 goals. The second match was a neck to neck competition between Los Polistas and Piramal / ASC where Los Polistas won with 5 goals.

This tournament comes after the conclusion of the earlier tournament titled – Southern Command Cup (8 Goal Tournament) where Team Piramal / ASC claimed the trophy. These tournaments have marked the return of polo season in Mumbai after the pandemic put a hold to activities.

While the game goes on, ARC has made sure to keep precise security measures in place, including sanitsation of the facility, social distancing of limited and exclusive audience and much more. Currently, the audience limit for the matches are capped at 100, with the people being exclusively allowed for either being members of the club or family and friends of the players.

About Amateur Riders’ Club:

Established in 1942, The Amateur Riders’ Club (ARC) is one of the oldest and largest private civilian horse riding clubs in India. This non-governmental (NGO) and non-profit organization (NPO) located at the Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai, offers riding throughout the year to members as well as non-members. Every year it hosts the Annual Mumbai Horse Show featuring acclaimed Polo Tournaments like The Maharaj Prem Singh Trophy, Aditya Birla Memorial Cup, Southern Command Cup and Show jumping and Dressage competitions like the FEI World Show Jumping, the Mumbai Equestrian League, etc. It takes pride in providing well-trained horses with top-class coaches from across the world and India. It also takes pride to have offered training facilities to India’s show jumpers in the Asian Games. 

The committee members led by President, Shyam Mehta preside over the various activities at ARC. While all of them are busy with their daily professions, they take out time to run and manage the club and to ensure it offers the best to its members. Today, ARC continues to be the leader in horse riding and equestrian sports training and is recognized as one of the most prestigious clubs in the country.
