A remarkable 539 players are out of contract at the end of the 21/22 season. Last year, it was Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Aguero that were in the same category. This time around, there is no shortage of talent as well.

All these players will be able to negotiate new deals with foreign clubs in a few days when the January transfer window opens. The pre-contract agreement will allow them to join their new clubs as free agents in the summer.

Which players are out of contract in June 2022?

Kylian Mbappe is the most valuable player out of contract at the end of the season. PSG have not yet managed to tie him down to a new deal. And according to AS, his future is still uncertain and won’t be dealt with until the Real Madrid match in the Champions League. Incidentally, it is also where he is potentially headed.

Mbappe’s France international teammate Paul Pogba is also out of contract in June. Manchester United seem resigned to losing him after a tumultuous transfer saga. Much like Mbappe, he is also a top target for Real Madrid in the summer.

The third big target for Madrid is Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, who is not happy with the deals that Chelsea have offered him. Real Madrid are willing to pay him the salary he wants, and he could be on his way out of the club in due course. His defensive partners Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are also in the same contact situation.

In Serie A, Franck Kessie and Lorenzo Insigne are the two key players who are set to leave when the season ends. Paulo Dybala is also out of contract in 2022, but he is very close to signing a new deal and hence, is set to stay with Juventus.
