## What Was the Rumour — and What Did the Producer Say?

A social media user claimed that RJ Balaji and producer SR Prabhu had a serious disagreement, which allegedly led to the director stepping away from the film’s promotional activities. But SR Prabhu wasted no time. The producer took to social media himself to deny any rift, clarifying that the team remains fully united, and that all release-related decisions are progressing smoothly. No breakdown, no walkout — just normal pre-release discussions happening behind closed doors as expected for a big-budget film.

## Why Has Karuppu Been Delayed?

The film was originally slated for a January 2026 release but was pushed back due to post-production delays and to avoid a clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. However, with Jana Nayagan itself getting delayed indefinitely, Karuppu now has a clear window.

The makers are targeting April 10, 2026 — Tamil New Year — as the release date, a festival weekend that would give the film an enormous box office boost. While an official announcement is still awaited, a second single is expected to drop soon with the date reveal.

The film follows a lawyer named Saravanan who becomes possessed by a deity and fights against injustice faced by marginalised sections of society.
