Tottenham’s performances have taken a turn this season, and it is not for the better. The London club has had a very difficult spell as of recently, winning only one of their last six matches, and enduring losses to Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton, Manchester City and West Ham United most recently.
Despite winning the first leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie against Wolfsberger, Jose Mourinho has a difficult few days ahead of him. Matches against the Austrian side in the second leg of their Europa League tie, along with Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace in the Premier League will be vital in determining whether the Special One will be trusted with things going forward.
On paper, Spurs are expected to win all the four matches they have coming up. But the real challenge lies in whether they will finish within the top four and return to the Champions League.
Considering their participation in the Europa League, they will be expected to win the competition too, as they are one of the biggest clubs in the competition.
Should Mourinho be asked to leave at the end of the season anyway, RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann has been identified as the first choice for Daniel Levy and co. to replace the Portuguese at the helm.
Nagelsmann is the brightest young manager across the continent and has turned Leipzig into genuine title contenders after working his magic with Hoffenheim previously. The German has made it clear that he will not leave the Red Bull Arena in the middle of the season.
But with that said, he could be on a flight to London when the campaign is said and done. Only time will tell whether we will arrive at that situation in the first place or not.
