Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in the London derby after goals from Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger helped the Blues back to the top of the league table alongside Liverpool.
Spurs were the better team in the first half and showed much more energy than their opponents. However, it wasn’t enough to break through Chelsea’s defense.
Thiago Silva opened the scoring for Chelsea in the second half, after heading the ball from a corner to beat Hugo Lloris. The Blues were on the front foot for the second half, and their overall game had more energy as N’Golo Kante was brought on for Mason Mount at half time.
Kante then scored a goal for himself, taking an effort from well outside the box. His shot took a big deflection off of Eric Dier of Tottenham, and Hugo Lloris could only watch as the ball rattled off the far end of the post and crossed the line. Despite the huge deflection, the goal was credited to Kante.
Tottenham never got going in the second half, and Chelsea managed to score a third goal late in regulation time. After Timo Werner received a corner on the right flank, he dribbled the ball into the box and found Antonio Rudiger. The German defender became the tenth different goalscorer for Chelsea this season as he netted the ball into the far corner to make it 3-0.
The Blues have now had the same result as Liverpool in each and every game so far this season, and are joint-leaders of the league, with totally identical tallies.
