Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the North London derby to earn a huge win. The only goal of the game was scored by Gabriel, who found the back of the net from a set-piece to give his side three points, alongside a clean sheet.

Jurrien Timber narrowly escaped a red card in the first half after a seemingly rash challenge. The Dutchman has only just returned to first team football after a serious injury, and is yet to get fully up to pace.

Both teams had solid first half chances with Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke both coming close. However, they couldn’t find the back of the net and the two teams went into the break goalless.

Spurs’ vulnerability from set pieces continued to show today as they conceded once again, after Bukayo Saka found Gabriel with a great cross. However, the match could have gone either way, with both teams separated by fine margins.

While Arsenal take on Atalanta next in the Champions League, Spurs will face Coventry in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Who is Tottenham’s new striker?

Dominic Solanke
