Sporting CP have won the 2024 Liga de Portugal title, their second under Ruben Amorim. With the win, the club has confirmed their spot in the 2024/25 Champions League group stage as well, becoming the first confirmed Portuguese team in the new format.

Benfica lost to Famalicao 2-0 in their most recent fixture, which ended all hopes of a late comeback for the challengers. Sporting defeated Portimonense 3-0 in their most recent fixture to ensure that they got their hands on the title. Their rivals Benfica are in second place, eight points behind them. And now, with two games remaining, it is mathematically impossible for them to catch up.

After winning their second title in 21 years, Sporting have the chance to end the season with a domestic double. They face Porto in the Portuguese Cup finals on May 26, and head into the match as favourites after their league title win.

Viktor Gyokeres has perhaps been the most impressive part of the season for Sporting CP, scoring 27 goals after his record transfer from Coventry. The Swedish striker has become one of the best young strikers in Europe, and could now be on the verge of a huge transfer in the summer.
