Sporting CP have won the 2024 Liga de Portugal title, their second under Ruben Amorim. With the win, the club has confirmed their spot in the 2024/25 Champions League group stage as well, becoming the first confirmed Portuguese team in the new format.
Benfica lost to Famalicao 2-0 in their most recent fixture, which ended all hopes of a late comeback for the challengers. Sporting defeated Portimonense 3-0 in their most recent fixture to ensure that they got their hands on the title. Their rivals Benfica are in second place, eight points behind them. And now, with two games remaining, it is mathematically impossible for them to catch up.
