## Form Guide

| Team | UCL Form (Last 5) | Key Stat |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Sporting CP** | W W L D W | Strongest comeback spirit in this year’s UCL |
| **Arsenal** | W W D W W | Unbeaten in all 5 H2H meetings vs Sporting (W2 D3) |

Arsenal have been the competition’s most clinical side in the knockouts — 27 shots worth 3.4 xG over their two-legged defeat of Leverkusen. Sporting’s incredible comeback — 34 shots in regulation vs Bodø/Glimt — proves they can overwhelm anyone at Alvalade when fired up. Mikel Arteta warned his players this is a completely different challenge compared to their 5-1 romp in this stadium last season.

The biggest sub-plot: **Viktor Gyökeres**, who scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting between 2023–2025, faces his old club. For Sporting, the suspension of captain **Morten Hjulmand** is a significant blow — he was the heartbeat of their Bodø/Glimt comeback. Arsenal miss Eze and Merino but retain their first-choice spine with Rice, Saliba, and Saka all available.

## Our Prediction

**🏟 Sporting CP 1–2 Arsenal**
Arsenal’s unbeaten H2H record, clinical UCL form, and Gyökeres’ inside knowledge of Alvalade’s vulnerabilities tip the balance. Sporting will push hard at home and will likely score — but Hjulmand’s absence weakens their midfield control. Arsenal grab a precious away win to take back to the Emirates, setting up a tense but ultimately comfortable second leg.
