Sporting CP have reached an agreement with Real Valladolid for the transfer of Ivan Fresneda. The young right-back had interest from several top clubs across Europe such as Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, but has chosen to further his career in Portugal with Sporting, who are reputed for developing top youngsters.
The medical has been booked for the defender, and will be completed in the coming days. Once all the formalities have been completed, he will be officially announced as a new player for the club.
Ivan Fresneda to sign for Sporting CP on permanent deal
The right-back has agreed a five-year contract until 2028 with his new club, and Valladolid will have a 10% sell-on clause included in the deal. They will be entitled to a percentage of any future fee that Sporting receive for the youngster.
Sporting will pay a fixed fee worth €9 million and will also pay €3 million in the form of add-ons. In the long-run, it could be considered a bargain given the potential that Ivan Fresneda has shown so far.
The youngster was not a first-choice starter last season and the move to Sporting will allow him to get regular playing time. He will be the replacement for Pedro Porro, after his transfer to Tottenham last year. And in the long run, he could also be sold for a massive profit if he can reach his potential.
