Spain have won the gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, defeating France 3-5 in a final for the ages. La Roja have made it a summer to remember, winning Euro 2024, the U19 Euros, and now, the Olympics as well.
The two teams played out a remarkable 3-3 draw over 90 minutes, with France equalising two minutes into injury time through Jean Mateta. Fermin Lopez helped Spain open the game strongly, scoring twice in seven minutes to give his side a 2-1 lead after they went down 10 minutes in.

The home crowd were left devastated to see their team come up short after such a strong showing in the final. However, Spain did incredibly well through Sergio Camello’s double in extra time to help his side win 5-3 after 120 minutes of football.
This was the highest scoring Olympics final in history. And France also became the first team to concede three goals in the first half of a men’s Olympic final since Denmark in 1912. Alex Baena’s remarkable free-kick goal 28 minutes into the game sealed the unwanted record for the home team.
However, they fought back well in the second half, and eventually made it 3-3 with Maghnes Akliouche and Mateta helping turn things around. But, Camello’s brace prevented them from getting another equaliser late in the game.
