### **Why the Catch Mechanism Matters**

- SpaceX has already **successfully caught the Super Heavy booster** twice using the launch tower’s robotic arms.
- The **upper stage Starship** is more challenging to catch, as it must **reenter Earth’s atmosphere** before reaching the tower.
- The catch system’s placement near the **heat shield tiles** is critical, as it must withstand extreme temperatures during reentry.
- Testing multiple regions of the **heat shield** will help SpaceX fine-tune the **hardware’s durability** and placement.

## **Starship’s Mars Mission in 2026: No Missed Windows**

Elon Musk has confirmed that SpaceX will not miss a **Mars transfer window** moving forward. The **next opportunity** to send **Starship to Mars** occurs in **late 2026**, when **Earth and Mars align** to create an optimal launch path.
