Richard Kelly’s *Southland Tales* crashed hard in 2006, earning a dismal $375,000 against its budget. Critics savaged the ambitious, chaotic vision, marking a career low. Yet, two decades later, the narrative experiment has ascended to cult status. With 500,000 copies sold, the film proves that bold, complex art often outlasts initial failure. Sometimes, true innovation just needs time to catch up.
