South Africa beat India in the final match of their 3-T20 series by 49 runs. The home team were bowled out for 178 in 18.3 overs as they attempted to chase a target of 228 set by their opponents. India fell to their first defeat chasing at home in the last 17 T20Is that they have played.

Heading into the game, India had already won the series by winning their first two games. As a result, the third and final game was only one for pride. And it is one that the visitors were able to win dominantly, despite succumbing 2-1 in the season’s tally.

Rilee Rossouw was the man of the match, having scored an unbeaten 100 off only 48 deliveries in what was his maiden century. Quentin de Kock also supported the flow of runs by scoring 68 runs before being run out.

Dinesh Kartik was India’s only silver lining in terms of batting, with the veteran scoring 46 runs before being bowled out by Keshav Maharaj. Deepak Chahar was the only other player for India who scored more than thirty runs, as the home team collapsed with an over and a half to spare.

India struggled with the bat right from the start of their innings, and were unable to chase such a mammoth total. Now, they turn their attention to the World Cup with the competition getting ever closer.
