East Bengal midfielder Sourav Das signs with Chennaiyin FC until 2024

After Lalrinliana Hnamte, SC East Bengal are set to lose another one of their players in quick succession. Sourav Das has reached an agreement with fellow ISL side Chennaiyin FC and will be joining them at the start of the next season.

The West Bengal born footballer will be signing a two-year contract with Chennaiyin that will keep him with them until 2024. His contract with SC East Bengal will expire at the end of the current season, and he will join his new club as a free agent.

Sourav Das to leave SC East Bengal & join Chennaiyin FC

A source of The Bridge, close to the development confirmed, “Sourav has signed a two-year contract with Chennaiyin. He will make a move to the southern side in the summer window ahead of the next season”

The player started out his career with SC East Bengal’s arch rivals, Mohun Bagan. He had to wait for his opportunity, but eventually made it into the first team. Last season, he was with Mumbai City FC, winning the domestic double. His spell with SC East Bengal started this season, and it will be over within a few weeks.

SC East Bengal finished last in the table this year, and Sourav Das was one of the standout Indian performers in the campaign. He will be featuring alongside Chennaiyin FC captain and fellow Indian Anirudh Thapa next season, who recently signed a contract extension to keep him with the Machans.
