A massive PS5 update is rumoured to be coming soon, and it will include two important features: full Discord integration and cloud streaming for PS5 games. Sony has released numerous major updates for the PS5 since its release, adding new features and other UI improvements.

Version 6.00 of the PS5 was released in 2022, with support for 1440p displays and Game Lists to help users organise their games. These major updates are only released every few months, as the rest are mostly related to stability improvements. The next major PS5 system software update has been leaked, and it appears that Sony will soon add two important features.

According to Insider Gaming sources, PlayStation 5 system software update 7.00 will be released on March 8, 2023, and will include full Discord integration.

Insider Gaming leaked the release date for Discord on PS5 as 2022 and rumoured launch plans appear to have remained unchanged. Before delving into the other aspects of this update, fans should keep in mind that every rumour or leak should be treated with caution.

Insider Gaming reports that version 7.00 includes another significant feature: fans will be able to stream PS5 games on their consoles with this update. This allows gamers to save valuable storage space on their systems, though users can increase total storage space by adding another SSD to their PS5 consoles. This element, according to the same sources, has been in development for months under the project name “Cronus.”

Furthermore, Insider Gaming reports that cloud streaming of PS5 titles will be included in PlayStation Plus Premium, the top tier of the revamped PS Plus. Members in the Premium tier can stream games from a variety of PlayStation systems, so PS5 titles will be an added bonus for this category.

It should be noted that cloud streaming is not available everywhere, so this feature may be limited to specific regions as well. According to Insider Gaming, Sony will begin beta testing for update 7.00 in the coming days, with plans to conclude it on January 30. However, according to the report, testers will be unable to use PS5 Discord integration during this time.
