Just one episode in, and “Spooky in Love” is already adding a wrinkle to its central pairing. New stills confirm Ong Seong Wu’s entry into the drama as Kang Min Hwan, a longtime friend of the female lead — and his very first scene already hints he might be more than just a friendly face.

## Catching Up From Episode One

The premiere saw hotel heiress Cheon Yeo Ri (Park Eun Bin) and prosecutor Ma Gang Wook (Yang Se Jong) repeatedly cross paths — in the mountains, on the road, and eventually at her own hotel. The episode closed with Ma Gang Wook showing up unannounced just to see her, setting the tone for their chaotic, ghost-fueled partnership.

## Enter Kang Min Hwan

New stills from episode two reveal that Cheon Yeo Ri’s longtime friend, Kang Min Hwan (Ong Seong Wu), enters the picture during a trip to Jeju Island, where all three characters end up crossing paths in what’s described as an ominous first meeting. The stills show Cheon Yeo Ri startled when Ma Gang Wook suddenly appears beside her on an escalator, suitcase in hand, before Kang Min Hwan steps between the two of them.

While Kang Min Hwan keeps a polite expression throughout the interaction, there’s reportedly something faintly unsettling in his eyes — a small detail that’s already stirring curiosity about what the chaebol heir is really thinking beneath the surface.

## Why This Triangle Could Get Interesting

Occult romance dramas often lean on a love triangle to raise the emotional stakes, using a third character’s hidden motives to complicate an already unconventional central pairing — a narrative device common across Korean television’s supernatural romance subgenre, tied to a broader storytelling tradition rooted in Korean folklore, as detailed on [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_folklore). With Kang Min Hwan’s true intentions still unclear, his entrance adds a layer of tension right as Cheon Yeo Ri and Ma Gang Wook’s dynamic is just beginning to take shape.
