Qualcomm recently unveiled the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, their latest flagship processor. This cutting-edge chip boasts advanced AI capabilities through an enhanced Hexagon Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and supports stable diffusion on a single device. Notably, its gaming performance with ray tracing has improved by 40% compared to its predecessor.
The Scores of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Xiaomi 14
The AnTuTu benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 have been made public, showcasing an impressive score of 2,139,281 points. This record-breaking achievement surpasses the scores of the Dimensity 9300 and Apple’s A17 Pro chipset.
Qualcomm has officially disclosed benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, including AnTuTu, Geekbench, 3DMark, and AI Mark scores. Remarkably, this chipset is the first from Qualcomm to breach the 2 million mark on AnTuTu. Compared to its forerunner, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has outperformed by 30%.
Although the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 briefly held the title as the first chipset to reach 2 million points on AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 managed to outshine it with a 5% higher score. Qualcomm’s chipset also held its ground in Geekbench scores, matching the multi-core performance of Apple’s A17 Pro while lagging behind in single-core performance by 25%.
One of the key highlights of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 lies in its exceptional AI performance, evidenced by its outstanding score of 240,147 points in AI Mark benchmarks. It’s worth noting that these benchmark results were obtained using a prototype smartphone, and real-world performance will depend on the specific device and optimizations carried out by manufacturers.
Manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm architecture, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is an octa-core chipset featuring a Cortex X4 Prime core, 5 Cortex A720 cores, and two Cortex A520 cores, reaching a maximum clock speed of 3.3GHz.
Excitingly, Xiaomi is set to launch its Xiaomi 14 Series in China on October 26, marking the world’s first device to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. There’s an appearance of both the Xiaomi Mi 14 (23127PN0CC) and Xiaomi Mi 14 Pro (23116PN5BC) on a Geekbench listing, which has provided insights into their specifications and benchmark scores.
The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are both anticipated to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 System-on-Chip (SoC). This SoC configuration includes one powerful Cortex-X4 CPU core running at 3.3GHz, three high-performance Cortex-A720 CPUs operating at 3.15GHz, two additional Cortex-A720 CPUs running at 2.96GHz, and two power-efficient Cortex-A520 CPUs clocked at 2.27GHz. It is worth noting that both devices will feature 16GB of RAM and run on Android 14 with Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperOS, as confirmed by the company.
Benchmark results have revealed that the Xiaomi 14 achieved a single-core score of 2210 and a multi-core score of 7486, while the Xiaomi 14 Pro recorded a single-core score of 2222 and a multi-core score of 7495. These scores fall within a similar range as the benchmark results of the Dimensity 9300, which recently surfaced in an OPPO test unit.
